SEARCH TIPS
SCCGov's Search is designed to answer questions that are worded in plain, conversational English, just as you
would ask them to another person. Our search displays answers by understanding the question and
provides results based on the meaning of the question.
Here are some tips and guidelines about asking questions and getting answers:
-
The more specific and descriptive the question, the better the answers.
Enter complete questions in your own words. For example: Transmittal BH-CE01-061604 or March 28 2006
-
Ask one question at a time and keep them simple.
SCCGov's search supports questions worded in plain english as well as simple keywords. However, it is recommended to use at least three keywords for better results. Ask one question at a time and not multiple questions in one sentence. Use double quotes for exact match searches.
-
Use correct spelling and grammar for more accurate answers.
Although our search has built in spell checking, using correct spelling and grammar helps bring more accurate answers. Capitalization is not required but can help when searching for names and acronyms.
-
Boolean operators are not necessary.
Many search engines use words and symbols
(such as AND, NOT, +, and -) as logical operators to define complex searches.
SCCGov's search does not rely on logical operators to construct search queries,
but treats these words as ordinary parts of the question.
