When a City or other governmental jurisdiction issues a building permit, they are required to notify the Assessor's office of that new permit. This notification is required since the Assessor is mandated to assess value added by new construction.

As a result, the notice you received was generated automatically based only on the fact that a permit was issued.

Of course, not all changes triggered by a building permit result in a new assessment. Your assistance returning the Building Permit Statement as complete and as quickly as possible will assist the Assessor's office make this determination.
