If the death of your loved one does not fall under the criteria that would require this office to conduct an autopsy, you may request a private autopsy.  Such a request must be made in writing to this office (27520 Cal. Government Code).

Uncomplicated autopsies to the general public, not including toxicology, microbiology, neuropathology or other special examinations cost $1,705 per case, to be received in advance. 

Additional charges for toxicology, microbiology, neuropathology or other special examinations will be paid in advance.
