Dear Neighbor, 

Welcome back to my website. I am continuing to implement new features and finding resources that you may find helpful. My staff and I are diligently researching fun and exciting activities and opportunities for personal enrichment available throughout the county. As we find new information, it is being posted on the Family Resources page, so please take a moment to browse the events for anything you may be interested in. Also I will be adding new content and comments on a regular basis, so please check back often.

MTC High School Internship program

The 2010 MTC High School Internship program is now open and accepting student applications. Approximately 30 internships will be available throughout the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. The hourly rate is $10.00 per hour and students may work full-time or part-time, for up to 8 weeks, between June and August 2010.

STUDENT QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must:

• be at least 16 years of age by date of hire (June 21, 2010),
• have completed the 10th grade, and
• have an unweighted grade point average of 2.8 or higher (students with a lower GPA will be considered if he/she submits two letters of recommendation).

Civil Grand Jury

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010-2011 term of the Civil Grand Jury. The Civil Grand Jury is an investigatory body created for the protection of society and the enforcement of the law. Although the responsibilities of a juror are many and diverse, the three predominant functions include: civil watchdog responsibilities; citizen complaints; and criminal investigations.

San Jose/Santa Clara County Chosen to be Inaugural City in the Partner Cities Network of the Council for a Parliament of World's Religions

I am excited to announce that the City of San Jose and the County of Santa Clara will be recognized for embracing a vision of interreligious harmony and social justice. Both the City and the County have been invited to participate in the 2009 Parliament of World's Religions titled "Make a World of Difference: Hearing each other, Healing the Earth," being held on December 3rd through 9th. The Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions was created to cultivate harmony among the world's religious and spiritual communities and foster their engagement with the world and its guiding institutions in order to achieve a just, peaceful and sustainable world.
