It is the policy of the Board of Supervisors to give public notice of vacancies on Boards & Commissions for a period of up to 35 days (State requirement of 10 days) so that interested persons may apply for appointment. Listed below are the Boards & Commissions that have positions available for appointment. These are arranged by the Supervisorial District that will make the appointment. Certification Appeals Board
Vacant

Nominee shall be a current or retired deputy probation officer or parole agent. Nomination for Board As-a-Whole appointment is for a rotating 3-year term which commenced on July 1, 2007. Authority to nominate will remain with District 4 until term expiration on June 30, 2010. (Vacant position formerly held by Nydia Smith.)


Correctional Industries Advisory Board

Nominee shall be a representative of adult education. Nomination for Board As-a-Whole appointment is for a rotating 3-year term which commenced on July 1, 2008. Authority to nominate will remain with District 4 until term expiration on June 30, 2011. (Vacant position formerly held by Chuck Perotti.)


County of Santa Clara/Hsinchu County, Taiwan, Republic of China, Sister County Commission

HIV Health Services Planning Council

Nominee shall be a Part D grantee or a youth and family HIV services provider. Nomination for Board As-a-Whole appointment is for a rotating 2-year term which commenced on January 1, 2009. Authority to appoint will remain with District 4 until term expiration on December 31, 2010. (Vacant position formerly held by Anthony Trazo.) Vacancy initially posted on November 4, 2009.


Housing and Community Development Advisory Committee

Appointee shall represent low-income members, residents of target neighborhoods or minorities. Appointment is for an allocated 1-year term which commenced on July 1, 2008 and will expire on June 30, 2009. (Incumbent Gary Pelton is eligible for reappointment.)


National Guard and Veterans Affairs Commission

Appointee shall reside in Supervisorial District 4. Appointment is for an allocated 4-year term which commenced on July 1, 2006 and will expire on June 30, 2010. (Vacant position formerly held by Peter Engkilterra, Sr.)


Roads Commission

Nominee shall represent the public at large. Nomination is for a rotating 4-year term which commenced on July 1, 2009. Authority to appoint will remain with District 4 until term expiration on June 30, 2013. (Incumbent Hector Corona is eligible for reappointment.)


Senior Care Commission

Appointee shall be a representative of the Council on Aging. Appointment is for a rotating 3-year term which commenced on July 1, 2009. Authority to nominate will remain with District 4 until expiration on June 30, 2012. (Vacant position formerly held by Mary Tinker.)


West Valley Flood Control and Watershed (North Central Zone)
