Healthy Trails Challenge

The Healthy Trails Challenge is a free fitness challenge providing a fun way to exercise, get fit and connect with nature on Santa Clara County's spectacular trails.  Participants register online and choose 5 of Santa Clara County's 21 Healthy Trails based on their interest and fitness levels.  Participants receive a free gift just for registering and another gift if they fill out a Healthy Trails Log and Evaluation for five trails by the end of October.

To help introduce Santa Clara County residents to some of these trails, I created short videos featuring some family-friendly hikes I took with local leaders and health advocates. I trekked the Los Gatos Creek Trail in Campbell with soccer star Brandi Chastain and several families from the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative, a local nonprofit group that empowers the athletes in all the women in our community. I also walked along the Coyote Creek Trail at Hellyer Park in San Jose with Kimberly Ellis and Dr. Dao Nguyen of Kaiser Permanente, the Wood Road Trail at Almaden Quicksilver Park with Santa Clara County’s Parks and Recreation Director Lisa Killough, and Upper Stevens Creek Park with Public HealthDirector Dr. Marty Fenstersheib.  Click on the links below to watch the videos.

I hope these clips will inspire you to take our Healthy Trails Challenge.  To register, go to www.parkhere.org and click on "Healthy Trails," and then on "Registration."
