Medical Support
DCSS actively seeks health insurance coverage for children in both welfare and nonwelfare cases. Health insurance is considered part of child support and included in a support order if the coverage is available at a reasonable cost. Noncustodial parents may be able to enroll their children in health plans available through their work.
If a child receives CalWORKS or Medi-Cal benefits or is in foster care, the Social Services Agency refers the case to us.
For more information, see “CalWORKS or Medi-Cal Child Support Cases” in the California Child Support Handbook.
Spousal Support
DCSS will enforce orders for spousal support under some circumstances but only if an order for spousal support already exists. Call us at 408-503-5200 to see if it can be done in your case.
