 1. How do I get my property surveyed?
 

Contact a private Licensed Land Surveyor.  Get names from referrals, in the yellow pages of the telephone directory, and/or visit the local chapter of the California Land Surveyors Association.  The County Surveyor will not survey your property

 2. How can I get Bench Mark Information?
 

Contact the National Geoditic Survey, or the city in which you are surveying, or FEMA Flood Plan Maps.  (None of which are avilable from the county surveyor.

The county surveyor does not provide any bench mark information.

 3. How can I get copies of filed maps?
 

Contact the County Clerk-Recorder's Office for filed map copies.  The County Surveyor does not provide copies of filed maps.

 5. How do I know or find if there is a map of my property?
 

Come to the 7th floor of 70 West Hedding St., San Jose.  On the southerly wall, see microfiche and search instructions on the table top; or contact your title insurance company and title report.  County does not do the search for you.

 6. Does the County handle fence dispute related questions?
 

For disputes regarding fence placement, contact your Attorney or Land Surveyor.

 8. How do I get a copy of my surrounding annexation?
 

Ask the city clerk of the affected city or district.  If they do not have it, contact the records section of the Board of Supervisor's Office for Santa Clara County.

Under certain circumtances, the County Surveyor's Office may be able to provide the older annexations.
