Emergency Medical Services Committee (EMSCo.)

The Emergency Medical Services Committee (EMSCo.) is comprised of a diverse cadre of representation, from all provider levels, to provide the EMS Agency and the Health Advisory Commission with community and stakeholder-based input that foster enhancement of the EMS system.  Guests invited to attend.

Medical Directors Advisory Committee (MDAC)

The Medical Director’s Advisory Committee serves as an advisory body to the EMS Medical Director. This stakeholder group is comprised of provider medical advisors, emergency department, and other physicians. This group works closely with the Clinical Practice Advisory Committee.  (The last hour of the meeting is combined with the Clinical Practice Advisory Committee.)

Clinical Practice Advisory Committee (CPAC)

The Clinical Practice Advisory Committee provides recommendations to the EMS Medical Director through the Medical Director’s Advisory Committee in the areas of prehospital care clinical protocol development. Membership consists of field providers, administrative officers, physicians, EMT’s, paramedics, nurses, etc. (The first hour of the meeting is combined with the Medical Director’s Advisory Committee.)

Prehospital Providers Advisory Committee

Designed for all stakeholders to provide input in the area of EMS field operations, policy review, education, and multi-patient management operations.  Reservations not required.  Includes

Coordinators/Directors/Chiefs Executive Session

Designed to provide a forum for EMS Agency advisory groups to report to program administrators and directors.  Program administrators and directors review committee work and provide "official" recommendations to the EMS Agency.

Cardiac Care Audit Committee

The Cardiac Audit Committee is a multidisciplinary committee comprised of various system stakeholders.  Major responsibilities include cardiac system performance review and providing recommendations to the EMS Agency.

Stroke Audit Committee (SAC)

The Stroke Audit Committee is a multidisciplinary committee comprised of various system stakeholders.  Major responsibilities include stroke system performance review and providing recommendations to the EMS Agency.

Prehospital Audit Committee (PAC)

The Prehospital Audit Committee is a multidisciplinary committee comprised of various system stakeholders.  Major responsibilities include prehospital performance improvement review and providing recommendations to the EMS Agency.

Trauma Audit Committee (TAC)

The Trauma Audit Committee is a multidisciplinary committee comprised of various system stakeholders.  Major responsibilities include trauma system performance review and providing recommendations to the EMS Agency. 

System Status Management Committee

The Committee reviews the deployment plans of the County-contracted EOA ambulance provider and serves as a forum for providing input related to ambulance service delivery. 

Exemption Review Committee

An appointed committee will review 9-1-1 events that resulted in late EOA ambulance and first responder response that were not resolved at the preliminary review level. 

 

EMS Air Utilization Review Committee

Designed to review the operational aspects of EMS Air Resources use.  Clinical issues and review will be routed to appropriate committees.

EMS Command and Control Workshops - EMS Operations Quality Assurance & Improvement

Designed for EMS field managers and supervisors.  This quality improvement review addresses the operational aspects of EMS response including incident review, planning for events, WMD/disaster medical services, and provider agency operational reports.  Open to the Santa Clara County System providers only. 

Paramedic Accreditation Exam

The Paramedic Accreditation Exam is a mandatory exam that all new Paramedics and Paramedic Interns must pass in order to receive their Paramedic Accreditation or Paramedic Intern Recognition.  The examination covers all prehospital care policies, treatment protocols, and operational standards.

Santa Clara County EMS System Orientation

The EMS System Orientation is a mandatory course that all new paramedics and newly hired EMTs must attend.  The orientation provides an overview of the Santa Clara County EMS System operations.

EMS Update: Train-the-Trainer

The EMS Update 2009 Train the Trainer program is designed to provide mandatory system update information to EMS System Educators so they may provide training to their own personnel.
