The Information Services Department - GIS is responsible for the Enterprise GIS program of the County, which based on the County's GIS Staretgic Plan has extended out to external agencies as the benefits of the Plan encompass both external and internal County agencies and departments. The Enterprise GIS program goals are:
- Planning and promoting the development of County-wide GIS aligned with the stakeholders' business needs, compatible with the County's Information Systems Strategic Plan.
- Developing and providing access to high quality geographic information to County's customers and region's GIS users in a timely manner, and
- Supporting County GIS users in the planning, development, deployment and maintenance of creative, technically sound, enterprise-wide and cost effective GIS solutions for addressing their business needs.
The Enterprise GIS has taken on all those activities related to GIS data and GIS process and procedures that cross organizational boundaries, as laid out in the County's GIS Strategic Plan. The County's GIS has determined the level of the Enterprise GIS Program since it is the one dataset that is used by every GIS user in the County region. The efficient maintenance and distribution of the GIS basemap is key to the success of the GIS Strategic Plan.
