Call CenterThe Santa Clara County Call Center is the centralized entry point for individuals who are seeking County mental health services.  The primary  function is to provide a 24-hour telephone service which (1) screens for mental health needs, (2) directs callers to programs and services that are suitable for meeting their needs, and (3) authorizes Fee-for-Services Medi-Cal visits.  In addition, the Call Center provides telephone crisis intervention response to callers in an acute Mental health crisis, attempting to stabilize them until a crisis counselor or other crisis services provider can intervene to provide more extensive or specialized service.Based upon the telephone screening, Call Center workers typically direct callers as follows for ongoing care: Link a potential consumer to a County Mental Health Service Team by scheduling an appoint for the caller to receive an in-depth, face-to-face assessment at the County Mental Health site most appropriate for the consumer.  Consumer’s language, cultural, and geographical needs are a primary consideration in scheduling.  Link a potential consumer to a County-contracted community agency by faxing the information obtained during the telephone screening to the agency selected to deliver counseling or other mental health services.  Refer a non-eligible caller to an independent community resource that can meet the caller’s mental health needs.  Provide Authorization for Medi-Cal services to fee-for-service providers for those clients seeking mental health services under Phase II Medi-Cal.  In addition to its telephone services, the Call Center provides community outreach services to inform agencies and the general public of services provided through Santa Clara County’s Department of Mental Health.  Psychological testing and 2nd opinions may be provided in special circumstances.

Call Center services are available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese 24 hours a day, 7days a week by calling 1-800-704-0900.  General information, appointments, and referrals can be made available Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.  After 5:00pm on weekdays and weekends/holidays, the 1-800-704-0900 is for crisis calls only.
