“Working to Build a Better and More Peaceful Community for Everyone”
Our Vision
The vision of the Human Relations Commission is to advocate for and take positive action to eliminate prejudice and discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, cultural background, gender, age, sexual orientation, or disability and to promote PEACE and HARMONY between individuals and/or groups in the community.
Who We Are
The Human Relations Commission works closely with the Office of Human Relations of Santa Clara County, whose Director serves as Executive Secretary to the Commission. The Office of Human Relations works to “bridge county government and our diverse community, build positive inter-group relations, and help to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in Santa Clara County” through its Dispute Resolution and Ombuds Program, Immigrant Relations and Integration Services (IRIS), Network for a Hate-Free Community, and Youth Task Force.
The HRC currently performs its tasks through the following four standing committees: Justice Review Committee, Social Issues Committee, Peace Building Committee, and Operations Committee. The committees meet monthly.
