In 2001 immediately following the national tragedy, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors authorized a campaign to promote public safety and reduce the threat of hate crime. This campaign includes an award-nominated poster and multimedia public service announcements for professional and public use. The Hate is the enemy Campaign remains a current tool for responding to incidents of hate. It can also be used to promote the development of hate-free school and business environments.
