Places to take your dog

Many of our County Parks allow dogs with certain restrictions.  Here is a listing of our parks and where you may take your K-9 friend for a walk or run.

Here are some basic rules to follow when you bring your dog to a County Park:
· Dogs and other animals must be on a leash no longer than six (6) feet in length.
· It is the dog owner’s responsibility or person having custody or care of the dog to ensure that their animal doesn’t interfere with, bother, or harass park users, other animals, wildlife or park resources.
· All dogs must wear proof of valid license.
· No more than two (2) dogs may occupy a campsite.

Parks where dogs are allowed in all or most areas:

Almaden Quicksilver
All areas.

Anderson Lake:
All areas.

Hellyer:
All areas (except the children’s playground & Velodrome) including the Coyote Creek Parkway south to Anderson.

Hellyer County Park Dog Park:
· Closed each Wednesday for turf maintenance and care.
· Located in the northeast section of the park near the Shadow Bluff Group Picnic Area.
· All dogs must wear proof of valid license and proper vaccination.
· Dogs in heat are not allowed in the enclosure.
· Dogs in off-leash areas will at all times be under verbal or radio collar control and in visual sight of owner.

Ed Levin:
All picnic and parking areas, the Bay Area Ridge Trail from Sandy Wool Lake to Mission Peak.  Dogs are not allowed on any other trails.

City of Milpitas Dog Park at Ed Levin (Milpitas Muni Code V-9-7.01):
· Only dogs, dog handlers, and those persons accompanying them are allowed in the dog park.
· Dog handlers must be 16 years of age or older.  Any person under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a person 18 years or older.
· A dog handler, as defined herein, shall accompany his or her dogs at all times.
· Dog handlers are responsible for picking up and properly disposing of all feces deposited by their dogs.
· No more than two dogs per handler will be permitted in the park at one time.
· Dogs in heat are not permitted in the park.
· Dogs must be vaccinated and free of communicable illness and disease.
· Dogs must wear proof of current license.
· Dogs must be under voice control of their handler.
· Dogs displaying aggressive or anti-social behavior are not permitted in the park.  Upon signs of aggression or anti-social behavior the dog will immediately be required to leave the park.
· All other City of Milpitas park rules apply to use of the dog park.
· Only dogs less than 20 inches from the top of the shoulders are allowed in the “Small Dog Area.”
· Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the park.
· Users of the dog park do so at their own risk.  Neither the County nor the City shall be liable for any injury or damage caused by any dog in the dog park.

Lexington:
All areas.

Los Gatos Creek Dog Park:
· Closed each Monday for maintenance and care.
· All dogs must wear proof of valid license and proper vaccination.
· Dogs in heat are not allowed in the enclosure.
· Dogs in off-leash areas will at all times be under verbal or radio collar control and in visual sight of owner.

Los Gatos Creek Trail:
Dogs are welcome along the trail on leash. Dogs on leash are allowed at Campbell Park in Campbell.

Mt. Madonna:
All areas.

Penitencia Creek:
All areas.

Santa Teresa:
All trails, picnic sites, parking areas and the mowed meadow area. Dogs are not permitted at the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch house complex. To access the trail system with your dog, use the sidewalk along Manilla Drive, enter through the parking lot, turn left at the restroom, and right at the trail head. 

Vasona:
All areas except the children’s playground and boat docks.

Parks which allow dogs in limited areas:

Calero:
Dogs are allowed in parking and picnic areas and equestrian staging area.

Coyote Lake:
Campground, picnic areas, launch ramp an 1 mile of trail connecting the three areas

Joseph D. Grant:
Campground, picnic and parking areas, Edwards Field & Trail.

Sanborn:
RV campground, parking and picnic areas.  Dogs are not allowed in the walk-in campground or on any of the trails.

Stevens Creek:
Villa Maria Picnic area and adjacent fields, face of dam, Canyon, Old Canyon, and Mt. Eden Trails.

Uvas Canyon:
Campground, parking and picnic areas, on most trails.  Dogs not allowed on Knibbs Knob Trail.


Dogs are not allowed at Chitactac-Adams, Rancho San Antonio, Upper Stevens Creek or Villa Montalvo County Parks.
