Definitions
A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is used for solicitation purposes when the County's requirements are defined. The solicitation requires the vendor to prepare a written proposal and explain how the vendor is qualified to meet the County's requirements.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) is used for solicitation purposes when the County's requirements are not well defined. The solicitation requires the vendor to prepare a written proposal that explains in detail how the vendor plans to meet the County's requirements.
A Request for Information (RFI) provides a forum for expression of interest, comments and information gathering about a specific project the County is contemplating. The RFI also helps the County determine whether to solicit conceptual proposals in a future RFP.
