Election Officers Needed to Volunteer at the Polls

Volunteer at the Polls and Receive a Paid Stipend: The Office of the Registrar of Voters is always looking for citizens willing to serve at the polls.  If you are interested, please contact us at (408) 299-POLL(7655).

  To Volunteer at the polls you must be:

  •  At least 18 years or older
  •  A United States Citizen
  •  A registered voter in the State of California 
  •  A resident of the State of California

  Or: A High School Student, 16 years or older with at least a 2.5 GPA

Stipends
Volunteer stipends to work at the polls and set up on election eve: Inspectors: $140.00 / Clerks: $105.00;
Additional stipend, if attended training: Inspectors: $30.00 / Clerks: $20.00

Election Officer Training Class
Election Officers are required to attend a scheduled training class before each election. Online Training is also available.

Election Officer Duties
The Inspector supervises the Precinct Board, performs all election officer duties, is responsible for pick-up & inventory of election supplies, setting up the polling place, ensures all closing procedures are followed and Ballots & election supplies are returned to the receiving center. The Clerk can perform any or all of the election officer duties and assist the Inspector.
