Valley Health Plan (VHP) is a health maintenance organization (HMO) that is owned and operated by the County of Santa Clara.  VHP is not offered to the public.  See a list of our current employer groups below. 
Valley Health Plan is currently offered to:

  • County of Santa Clara employees and retirees
  • Council On Aging employees
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Independent Providers 
  • Santa Clara County Open Space Authority employees
  • Valley Medical Center Foundation employees
  • Valley Transportation Authority employees and retirees

Valley Health Plan has a comprehensive benefit package with no copays for pharmacy or primary and specialty care visits. VHP allows members to choose their own Primary Care Physician from a list of VHP Network Providers.

VHP physicians are located throughout the Santa Clara County. Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a state-of-art hospital facility with outstanding physicians and specialty services, serves as the hospital for VHP members.

The Valley Medical Center Foundation is a philanthropic nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds, resources and public awareness for Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System and Valley Medical Center.

Through its activities, the VMC Foundation has generated financial and community support vital to the programs that benefit the health and welfare of patients at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Significant contributions have been made to assist in the care and treatment of many people. Examples include the care of burn victims, premature babies, patients with spinal cord injuries, sexually abused children, victims of domestic violence, low-income children and families.

The VMC Foundation emphasizes the support of services and programs that are under-funded by other revenue streams. In doing so, the Foundation helps to expand, enhance and improve existing services. Funding may not supplant public dollars. Founded in 1988, the VMC Foundation has raised more that $10.5 million through private donations, grants and corporate gifts. 27 distinguished business and community leaders govern the VMC Foundation, including some of Silicon Valley's leading entrepreneurs.
