Designing for the Future
Budget deficits have been headline news for our local, state and even the federal government for several years. Your public healthcare system has responded by cutting expenses and generating new revenues. As a result, we have saved a noteworthy 675 million dollars over seven years. Throughout, our priority has been to ensure the quality of patient and client services.
Years of facing financial challenges have left us with little left to cut except direct patient services. We know cuts to our services will have a profound impact on the entire community, so we needed to find new ways to reduce costs and protect and improve services.
This kind of effort requires transformational change, and that’s why we launched Transformation 2010. Transformation 2010 project, or T2010, is an organization wide effort at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to adapt to changes in our funding and the economy, while enhancing and improving the high-quality care we provide.
These challenging times require continual creativity, resourcefulness and dedication. The employees of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center are committed to providing safe, quality and compassionate care to this community while we advancing this remarkable and positive transformation.
What is T2010 doing? The T2010 project will evaluate, re-design and enhance many of our clinical and operational processes and facilities, and improve care delivery to our patients and their families.
Why is this being done? T2010 furthers our commitment to provide quality care. New technologies, updated facilities and better processes - across the range of healthcare services - will improve patient safety, information security, scheduling, support services, and more. These changes will help us provide better access to care and healthier outcomes for our patients.
T2010 will also improve our financial position by decreasing our costs, increasing our efficiencies and increasing our revenues. As a result of this work the hospital will be in a more stable financial position. Fiscal responsibility and making the best use of taxpayer dollars are key components of this project.
Will your care be affected? You will continue to receive the highest quality of care from our physicians, nurses and medical staff. A key focus of the T2010 project is to re-design operations and improve processes to enhance the quality care you receive today.
“The T2010 initiative is another example of why SCVMC remains a leader and innovator in healthcare,” states Michael Skehan, Executive Director, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. “During this ambitious project, we will remain committed to our mission of providing quality healthcare in a supportive and professional work environment.”
