The Department of Anesthesia provides analgesia and anesthesia for over 5,000 women delivering at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center each year. The department offers special expertise in obstetric anesthesia including high-risk pregnancy. Anesthesiologists are available for consultation prior to your delivery and epidural analgesia is available 24 hours a day for those patients that might benefit from this means of labor analgesia.
