A dedicated and highly experienced professional team provides around-the-clock care and specialized services to all the infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our NICU team includes highly trained nurses and supportive staff, as well as compassionate, board certified neonatologists, who are pediatricians with advanced training in the care of premature and critically ill newborns.
The NICU nursing staff includes both nurses and nurse practitioners. We also have clinical nurse specialists who hold Master's Degrees in nursing. The nurses not only take thoughful care of our patients, but also are involved in nursing education, reearch and NICU administration.
It is clear that the members of our nursing staff enjoy their work, given that they usually stay on the team for an average of twelve years. Working in the unit for such a long amount of time has the added benefits of being able to build a close working environment, and a well-seasoned and experienced staff.
A primary nurse is assigned to infants who are expected to stay in the NICU for more than two weeks. Nurses take the time to get know the babies very well and take on the role of advocate for their patient, as well the main contact between the NICU team and the baby’s family.
As a Level III facility, we treat the most complex and challenging neonatal medical conditions. Our network of pediatric subspecialists and surgeons includes experts in cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, infectious diseases, orthopedics, genetics, nephrology, urology, neurosurgery, general pediatric surgery, and ophthalmology. Our team also includes technicians and specialists in respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacology, and nutrition. We provide social work and case management services as well.
