The first step to joining our team is to meet certain requirements.

These include:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • 21 years old at time of appointment
  • No felony convictions
  • 38 completed college semester units or
  • 57 quarter units (Deputy Sheriff Cadet)
  • 60 completed college semester units or
  • 90 quarter units (Deputy Sheriff - lateral)

Here are some of the responsibilities you will face as a member of the Department:


A Deputy Sheriff Cadet enters training to join the ranks of deputies. During the academy, Cadets will learn the basics of performing law enforcement duties, investigating crime, and apprehending law violators.


Post Academy Trained, or Experienced
Under supervision, a Deputy Sheriff will perform active law enforcement duties in the protection of life and property, the investigation of crimes and apprehension of law violators, the serving of civil process issued by court, and be required to perform a variety of technical law enforcement tasks.
