Typically, the homeowners are away for a short time, generally about two to three hours, on either a Friday or Saturday night. Because of this, these crimes have been dubbed the “dinnertime burglaries.” The suspects usually enter by breaking a locked window or entering through an unlocked door or window.

The driver, Rafael Castro, immediately exited his vehicle and approached Deputy Ramey. Castro told Deputy Ramey that his wife Judith Avila was inside the vehicle, and in labor.

On February 16, 2006, Frank Spencer Harm (also known as Scott Williams) was arrested for the 1972 murder of Fred Izzarelli. Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, officers from the Mankato Police Department and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Investigators arrested Harm without incident at his residence in Mankato, Minnesota.

    February 13, 2006 MISSING CHILDREN LOCATED At approximately 3pm on today’s date, Erica and Cain Bishop, the two missing children, were located at the Great Mall in Milpitas. Fifty Sheriff’s Deputies, San Jose Police Department, Milpitas Police Department and light rail security fanned out throughout the area in search of the missing children. Over one thousand flyers with the children’s pictures were printed and distributed at light rail stations, light rail trains and local malls. At approximately 3pm two Sheriff’s Deputies located the children inside the Great Mall in Milpitas.

    Press Release:January 9, 2006>>On 01-02-06 at approximately 12:20 AM, an elderly male experiencing chest pains was driving himself to the hospital. On his way to the hospital, he began feeling worse and remembered seeing several Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office signs pointing towards the South County Substation. The elderly male assumed someone would be at the substation and available to render him medical assistance. The elderly male arrived and realized the substation was closed and no other emergency personnel were in the immediate area to assist him.

    January 3, 2006 – The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office had over 525 people utilize the “Second Chance” warrant redemption program and over 650 warrants have been cleared. “This program has allowed many people to take care of their outstanding warrants during the Holiday Season” stated Lieutenant James Keith of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Warrants division. “We are very pleased with the results, and will be looking into implementing similar programs in the future.”

Included in the nine count is one count of < 288(b) PC [F] Lewd Act on a child under 14 by use of force >, six counts of < 288(a) PC [F] Lewd Act on a child under 14 >, and two counts of < 288(c)(1) PC [F] Lewd Act on a child under 14, when the suspect is at least 10 years older >. Wagner was charged with committing these crimes on a total of three victims and he entered straight pleas, with no special deals attached to any of the counts.

    Press Release: December 22, 2005>> On December 21, 2005 at approximately 9 pm, a red and white Cessna 172 with four people onboard crashed in the hills of Coyote Lake Park. Three eyewitnesses described the plane as having engine trouble shortly before it was seen slamming into the rocky hillside just west of the park. The plane was enroute to Fresno from San Martin airport.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team had spent the two previous days searching for and recovering the bodies of four people killed in a small plane crash in the Coyote Reservoir Park in Gilroy, California.
