Mission Statement
The County of Santa Clara, CA, USA/Hsinchu County, Taiwan, R.O.C. Sister County Commission is committed to fostering the exchange of artistic, commercial, cultural, educational and technological activities in the many diverse areas between the people and governments of the County of Santa Clara, U.S.A and the County of Hsinchu, Taiwan, Republic of China.
Accomplishments
A few highlights of the County of Santa Clara, CA, USA/ Hsinchu County, Taiwan Sister County Commission activities are listed below. Specifically, the Commission:
- Sponsored and hosted the successful special event featuring the Ribbon Dancers from Taiwan.
- Established a solid, mutually supportive relationship with Director General Mark Liao of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco.
- Conducted a goodwill delegation visit, at Commissioners’ own expense, to Taiwan to strengthen the relationship between the two sister counties – County of Santa Clara and Hsinchu County; to share best practices; and to plan joint initiatives for the coming year.
- Presented “The Light of Silicon Valley” donated by artist Jenny Ching-Yu Wu to Hsinchu County.
- Created an Hsinchu Commission Sister-County website.
- Formalized its relationship with Sister Cities International and is now a part of SCI website and annual directory.
- Restructured its Bylaws, Ordinance, Mission Statement and operating procedures.
