Acupuncture Services are the placement of needles with or without electric stimulation to prevent, modify, or alleviate severe, persistent, or chronic pain. 

Valley Health Plan covers you for Acupuncture Services when your Primary Care Physician (PCP) prescribes it as medically necessary. Your PCP must process a referral before you receive services. Once approved by VHP, you will receive a copy of the authorization so you can receive the authorized visits with a VHP Network Acupuncturist. If you seek acupuncture services without a referral from your PCP or seek services at a non-VHP acupuncturist, you may be responsible for all charges. 

There is a maximum of twenty (20) pre-authorized visits per calendar year. You will be asked to pay a $10.00 co-payment at the time of each visit.  Unauthorizd services such as herbal medicines or other treatments will be your financial responsibility.
