Zoe Lofgren served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 through 1994 representing downtown San Jose, Willow Glen, East San Jose, Alum Rock and parts of the Evergreen and Rose Garden areas. Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors, Lofgren was a partner in an immigration law firm in San Jose and served on the board of a local community college.
Her career on the board was marked by strong dedication to children’s services, health care, and fiscal responsibility, as well as a commitment to alleviating traffic congestion and increasing affordable housing throughout Santa Clara County. In 1984, Lofgren spearheaded the Measure A highway funding campaign, which provided a one-half-cent sales tax to fund much needed improvements to highways 85, 101, and 237.
Zoe Lofgren currently serves as a member of the United States Congress.
