Last month I had the pleasure of co-organizing a three-part economic summit with Supervisor Wasserman on behalf of the Board of Supervisors. The summit was a series of events that focused on what the county can do to promote job growth in various emerging industries: green business, healthcare, and small business. It was a great opportunity for the Board members to hear the views of leaders in the community. If you would like to know more, I invite you to watch the events on video or read the transcripts online by following the link for the appropriate industry:
Please feel free to share your ideas or comments on ways in which Santa Clara County can promote job creation by e-mailing me at email@example.com

Below I have some additional information that I thought might be useful to you about voting, foreclosure relief, and the new area code as well as some interesting upcoming events.

Would you like to meet our new Registrar of Voters?
Barry Garner, Santa Clara County’s new Registrar of Voters, is the person in charge of our elections. Many people have questions about what happens behind-the-scenes of an election. Barry Garner will be holding a meet and greet session on September 29 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Registrar of Voters Office, 1555 Berger Drive building 2, San Jose. .Have you heard about the new area code for parts of our region?
Some areas of Santa Clara County will soon be getting new area code: 669. Starting October 20, residents in the 408 area code will need to dial the area code plus the phone number in order to make a call. This means that your automatic dialing lists may need to be updated in your devices such as phones, computers, fax machines, and security alarms. Starting November 20, new phone lines may be assigned to the new area code. For more information on the new area code or dialing regulations in Santa Clara County, please visit the California Public Utilities Commission website at www.cpuc.ca.gov
or contact Lara McCabe at my office by calling 408-299-5033.
