Day on the Bay
The first annual Day on the Bay: A Multicultral Festival was a resounding success! Located in the beautiful community of Alviso at the new Alviso Marina County Park, this festival drew over 4,000 people. There were also over 90 exhibitors passing out information on their services, including everything from county and city services to nonprofits and local businesses. Additionally, attendees were treated to a day of diverse entertainment on two stages which included Mexican Folk Dancing, African American Cultural Dances, line dancing, two middle school bands, three local bands and the laughter of Dr. Laughaway.
Santa Clara County Firefighters were on hand to work the BBQ, providing free hamburgers for everyone at the festival, as well as let kids climb in a real firetruck. In addition to the free food, children were able to pick out a free pumpkin to take home for Halloween!
There were many activities for families to enjoy, such as face painting and arts and crafts. Additionally, many families took free kayak rides on the Alviso Slough and were able to view the variety of wildlife that lives in the San Francisco Bay.
Thanks to all of our volunteers and sponsors that helped make the event a success. We look forward to seeing you all again next year at Day on the Bay!
