Our Mission:

Work to provide public safety, environmental protection, efficient customer service, and to safeguard the interest of the general public and property owners, present and future, by reviewing the design and construction of land development projects for compliance with County and engineering standards. General questions call Chris Freitas at (408) 299-5732.

Project Conditioning

During the application process administered by the Planning Office, the Land Development Engineering Section reviews the project and establishes conditions of approval relating to improvement of privately maintained streets and on-site grading improvements and flood control. Questions call Teresa Price at (408) 299-5736.
Plan Review and Processing

After a project has received conditional approval from the Planning Office, the Land Development Engineering Section reviews the final engineering plans and specifications for conformance with the conditions of approval, County Land Development and Grading Ordinances, and County standards. They also coordinate that review with the other County departments.
Street & Grading Inspection
After a road improvement/grading permit has been issued, inspectors from the Land Development Engineering Section inspect the work during construction. Questions call Jerry G. Guevara at (408) 299-6868.
Grading Violations
Grading and other construction action occasionally is performed without the benefit of a permit and in violation of County Ordinance when the work otherwise required one. If you would like to report an incident please contact our Code Enforcement Division.
Other Land Development Engineering Functions
The Land Development Engineering Office also performs other functions, such as administration of the Grading Ordinance, Right of Way Abandonment of private streets and easements, and street name changes.
