County of Santa Clara to Celebrate 90th Anniversary of Women’s Equality Day

Reception to Commemorate Nine Decades of Women’s Right to Vote

WHAT:
In commemoration of Women’s Equality Day, the County of Santa Clara Commission on the Status Of Women and the Office of Women’s Policy will host their annual reception highlighting “Women Leaders in the Green Economy.” The event will convene 300 civic leaders to celebrate the achievements of women and discuss challenges and opportunities for women’s advancement in the economy today. This reception will launch activities leading to an important policy summit in December 2010 titled “Women and Girls 2010: Thriving in the New Economy.”

On the Commission on the Status of Women
For 37 years, the County of Santa Clara Commission on the Status of Women has advised the Board of Supervisors on equal participation and treatment, and other issues that affect the lives of women and girls in Santa Clara County. The Commission works with the Office of Women’s Policy on joint strategic initiatives, collaborates with key women’s organizations, and provides a unified voice for women at the local and state level.
