WHY:
There are almost 14,000 low-income families who rely on the Santa Clara County Social Services Agency for assistance. The majority are trying to become self-sufficient through training and employment. Santa Clara County Social Services Agency has developed this job fair for the families who are actively seeking employment.

Job fairs connect job seekers and numerous employers in one place at one time. For the Employment Connection team in the County’s Department of Employment and Benefit Services, this achieves their goal to support job seeking heads of households in their efforts to secure employment; allowing them to meet the essential needs of their families, and to achieve or maintain economic stability and independence. Once employed, the earnings that they generate go back to the local economy; strengthening their families’ purchasing power and benefitting local businesses. Job fair opportunities continue to be important while the rate of unemployment in Santa Clara County
improves; an estimate of 8.8 percent in June 2012, up from the June 2011 estimate of 10.2 percent.  About 1,200 job seekers attended last year's Employee Connection Job Fair.

Santa Clara County Department of Employment and Benefit Services (DEBS) and community partners continue to collaborate to respond to the needs of the community.

Participating employers this year include: Adecco, AppleOne, Aramark, BBSI, Coast Personnel Services, Creative Security, Edible Arrangements, FlagShip, Graebel, Orion Security, Randstad, Renoir, Right at Home, Sears, Volt, VTA and Wells Fargo.
