WHY:

California law requires that once every 10 years, following the decennial census, the boundaries of the supervisorial districts to be adjusted. This practice ensures equal representation for all. Since 1991, the County of Santa Clara has convened a Citizens Redistricting Commission to oversee the process and act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors.
