SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF.—Join the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors and industry experts in health care, green economy and small business for the Economic Summit 2012 on Aug. 7, Aug. 10, and Aug. 13, 2012. The three-part Economic Summit examines job growth potential, trends and challenges in the areas of green economy, health care and small business, as well as how the County of Santa Clara government can help improve economic activity that will lead to business growth and greater employment.

“The Economic Summit will be a forum for County government and industry experts to examine future job trends and propose ideas for how we can create opportunities for businesses to thrive and continue to hire,” said Supervisor Dave Cortese, co-sponsor of the Economic Summit.

Each part of the Economic Summit, held on three separate days, will include a panel discussion with industry experts, the Board of Supervisors and County departments, facilitated by a moderator, to discuss job growth and creation in each of the health care, green economy and small business sectors.  The health care summit will include special guest speaker Herb K. Schultz, Regional Director of the US Department of Health and Human Services, who will discuss the impact of health care reform and national trends on jobs in the industry. Each session will include an opportunity for public comment and questions.  The Board will then make recommendations to staff for follow up on any potential actions the Board could take to help improve job growth.

“The Santa Clara County Economic Summit is an opportunity for us to engage industry experts, local business leaders and the community in a new way,” said Supervisor Mike Wasserman, co-sponsor of the Economic Summit. “Our hope is that the County will be able to identify ways to support future job growth in the community.”
