The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters (ROV) reports that all polling places were open at 7:00 am this morning. The Registrar also is predicting that more time will be needed to tally the election results.
An estimated 467,000 voters are expected to participate in this mid-term election, including about 117,000 walk-in voters at polling precincts and 100,000 Vote by Mail ballots that will be dropped at the polls, arrive through the mail, or deposited at the return sites today.
Due to the high voter turnout and the length of the ballots - about 70 percent will have sets of three ballot cards - all precinct results may not be tallied until after 6:00 a.m., Wednesday morning.
Election Night Postings
An estimated 235,000 Vote by Mail and Mail Ballot Precinct ballots will be included in the 8:05 pm Election Night tally to be posted on the ROV website www.sccvote.org.
The next posting will begin including results from polling places and is targeted for 10:00 pm. Updates thereafter will be approximately every 45 minutes. The estimated completion time is sometime after 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
