Judge Mary Ann Grilli is a Superior Court Judge in Santa Clara County, currently serving as Supervising Judge in Probate and a member of the Unified Family Court bench. She handles trusts and estates, guardianships, conservatorships, mental health (LPS conservatorships), elder abuse matters, minor’s compromises and adoptions. She sat on the Criminal DV bench in 2007, and prior to that assignment, spent thirteen years in Family Court, handling all aspects of domestic violence cases, as well as Family Law matters. She was Supervising Judge of Family Court from 1998-2000.
Judge Grilli graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Criminology in 1968. She obtained her law degree magna cum laude from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1973, where she conducted research in Family and Juvenile Law. She exclusively practiced Family Law and became a certified Family Law specialist in 1980. While in practice, she also served as President of the Palo Alto Area Bar Association. Representing children as well as parents, she practiced in the community for 19 years prior to her appointment as a Family Court Commissioner in 1993. She was elected to Superior Court in 1996.
