Plans must be legibly drawn to an appropriate scale, sheet size 18”x 24” minimum to 24”x36” maximum.  Plans shall be folded to 9 x 12 inch size.  When additional applications are concurrently being filed (e.g., grading permit, design review), submittal items need not be duplicated.

 

 
   Additional Information and Materials that May be Required

Geologic Report  (1 copy, plus pdf)
Consult with County Geologist prior to filing application to determine whether a geologic report will be required.  Submittal must include one wet-signed paper document and one electronic document in Adobe pdf format (on CD or DVD).  An additional fee is required for geologic report review.  See also geologic hazards page.

Septic System Plan
If a septic system is proposed, the site must be field-evaluated by a Department of Environmental Health (DEH) representative.  One copy of the site plan should be stamped and signed by the DEH representative.  See also DEH site.


Landscape Water-Efficiency Checklist  (1 copy)
Required for applications related to new dwellings, including projects classified as "rebuild."

General Plan Conformance and Contiguity/ Annexation Form  (1 copy)
Required if subject parcel is located within a city's urban service area and is deemed contiguous to city boundary (see instructions on form).


Average Slope Calculation 
Required for new house if subject parcel is zoned HS, RHS or R1E.  If slope of proposed developed area exceeds 30%, additional submittal and process requirements apply (see brochure and checklist).  Calculation must be shown on site plan and stamped and signed by a licensed land surveyor or registered civil engineer.  Check property zoning here

Environmental Information Form (CEQA)  (11 copies)
Required if subject parcel is zoned HS, RHS or R1E and slope of proposed developed area exceeds 30%  Also required if parcel is located in the upper Guadalupe Creek watershed.  An additional fee is required.  Check property zoning here

Williamson Act Compatible Use Determination
Required if subject parcel is under a Williamson Act contract.  It is strongly suggested that this determination be applied for and resolved prior to BSA application submittal.  An additional fee is required.

Floor-Area Ratio Calculation
Required if subject parcel is zoned -n1 (Los Altos Area) or -n2 (Burbank neighborhood).  Calculation must be shown on site plan and stamped and signed by a registered/licensed surveyor, engineer or architect.  Check property zoning here.
 
House Size:  Floor-Area Calculation
Required if subject parcel is zoned -d1 or -d2.  Calculation must be shown on site plan and stamped and signed by a registered/licensed surveyor, engineer or architect.  Design review also required if zoned -d1 or -d2.  Check property zoning here.

Green Building Ordinance: Single Family Residences
At the time building permit application is filed, a green building checklist will be required.  

Other Reports and Studies
Depending on location, development intensity and site characteristics, additional reports (e.g. arborist, biology, archaeology, noise) may be required.
