Plug in Electric Vehicle (PEV) Charging Ordinance
Planning Staff is currently preparing a proposed Ordinance that would require either pre-wiring or charging systems for Plug in Electric Vehicles (PEV) in new buildings in the unincorporated areas.
The purpose of this ordinance is to increase the availability of PEV charging system infrastructure throughout the County, encouraging the increased ownership of plug in electric vehicles.
The ordinance under preparation by the County is intended to be a model ordinance that can be used by other jurisdictions in Santa Clara County in adopting their own PEV Charging Ordinance.
Preparation of the Ordinance responds to a referral from the Board of Supervisors on May 21, 2013.
Below are the materials prepared to date regarding the proposed Ordinance and proposed outreach schedule and timeline for adoption of the Ordinance.
