Last modified: 3/1/2012 9:47 AM

Fictitious Business Name Statements are public record.

Researching:  To aid in researching Fictitious Business Names, the Clerk-Recorder’s Office Business Division maintains indexes on computers, microfiche, and on-line for public research. Indexes may be searched by business name or owner’s name. There is no cost to search the records by yourself. There is a fee per name if you wish to have the Clerk-Recorder's Office perform the search. Check Fees/Quick Reference for current rates.

Note that if you are searching for an address for a business or an owner you must view the document image. The address is NOT available on the on-line index. To view a document image, you may come to our office and view the images on our public access computers. If you are unable to come to our office, you may purchase a copy by mail.

Purchasing.  You may purchase copies of statements by mail or in person. Check Fees/Quick Reference for current rates. To purchase a copy, come to Clerk-Recorder's Business Division during business hours.  To purchase a copy by mail, send the following:

  • a check or money order made payable to Clerk-Recorder's Office,
  • the filing number of the statement (shown as Certificate Number on the on-line search screen)
