Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH)
The Public Health Department is committed to the health of women, children, and their families. Our Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program provides local women, children, and their families with access to comprehensive, quality healthcare services and focuses on prevention and early intervention strategies. We offer a variety of programs and services that are available to providers and their clients, with an emphasis on serving the maternal, child, and adolescent population. In addition, MCAH collaborates with many community partners in a variety of activities to improve the health of women and their families. Services include:
 
  • Prenatal Care Referral Line
  • Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)
  • Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Information
  • Child Car Seat Resources

Prenatal Care Referral Line
You can get help with a wide range of prenatal services by calling the Prenatal Care Referral Line at (800) 310-2332. These services can help you give your baby a healthy start in life and include:
 
  • Referrals to doctors who provide pregnancy care
  • Food vouchers and nutrition information for children and pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Child car seats and training on how to use
  • Family planning and pregnancy tests
  • Referrals for health exams, dentists, and immunizations for children
  • Support services for pregnant women and parenting families
  • Health insurance information
  • Referrals and resources for tobacco and other substance use and exposure
  • Special programs for African-American pregnant women and parenting families

Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)
If you are struggling to pay for care during your pregnancy, we can help. Our Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) offers quality prenatal care to women with low incomes. The program enhances routine pregnancy care with nutrition, health education, and other services that can improve your chances of having a healthy pregnancy and baby.
Services include:
 
  • An introduction to comprehensive prenatal services
  • Initial assessment, trimester reassessments, post-partum assessment, interventions and follow-up services in:
    • Obstetrics
    • Nutrition
    • Health education
    • Psychosocial services
    • Individual case coordination
    • Prenatal vitamin supplements
    • Information and referrals
    •

Car Seat Safety Program
Car seats are required for all babies and children by law. If you need help getting a car seat and learning how to use it properly, the Public Health Department can help. We offer free child safety seats to low-income families as well as one-hour classes that teach you how to properly use the car seat so you can be sure your children will be safely restrained.
