On July 5, 2005, an autopsy was performed on Victim Jeffrey Lamarr Garner, WMA, 01/12/80, of Gilroy. It was determined that the Victim died of a head wound caused by a metal pipe to the head. Other details about the altercation leading to the death of the Victim are still under investigation.
On July 3, 2005, at about 1:17 A.M., Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a fight in progress that involved a male and female, on the 10400 Block of Duke Drive, in unincorporated Gilroy. Upon their arrival, Deputies discovered that a man and woman had been involved in an altercation and one man was found lying unresponsive on the ground. Paramedics and Fire Officials pronounced the man dead at the scene.
What is known is that one man was found dead at the scene and Suspect Rogelio Roberto Garcia, Jr., 11-25-79, of Gilroy, was arrested without incident and is being held at the County’s main jail for P.C. 187- murder and an outstanding warrant. Sheriff’s Detectives are currently piecing together the remaining details. It appears that all involved are known to one another.
