On May 11, 2005, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Suspect #1 ELSA LORENA SOLARES, 12/02/65 and Suspect #2 JOSE SANABRIA, 09/15/58, both of Elk Grove, for two counts each of P.C. 530.5 – Identity Theft, P.C. 484/487 – Grand theft, & P.C. 115 – Perjury. The pair is currently being held in the Santa Clara County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
The suspects are husband and wife. They own an Income Tax business located in Mtn. View. In addition to being tax professionals, the wife is also a Real Estate Agent and the husband is a Notary.
The Suspects used their business to obtain the identities of the victims to purchase homes throughout Santa Clara County, Stanislaus County, and Sacramento County.
The suspects would obtain mortgage loans with their unsuspecting tax client’s identity. Then, they would target their other clients, all Spanish speaking only, who were interested in buying a home, but could not qualify on their own. The suspects would have the victims give them a down payment, usually $5,000-$10,000, have them move in to the property and maintain the mortgage payments with the promise of placing them on title within a years time and eventually owning the home. In the end, the victim loses everything.
Anyone who believes they have been victimized by these suspects or believes they have been a victim of identity theft is urged to call Detective Sgt. Dalia Rodriguez at (408) 808-4539. If you wish to remain anonymous call or Tip line at (408) 808-4431.
