Chief Probation Officer Sheila Mitchell and Sheriff Laurie Smith invite you to attend an Open House for the Santa Clara County Harold Holden Justice Training Center located at 19050 Malaguerra Avenue in Morgan Hill from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2006.
The training center is located on the 1.2-acre site that was previously used as a juvenile detention facility. Having stood vacant for nearly two years it will now be used to provide high quality training for peace officers and administrative staff.
With state of the art classroom and physical training facilities and the finest instructors representing federal, state, and local public safety personnel, the training center will serve to impart knowledge and instill confidence in the students.
Students of the Justice Training Center will be comprised of public safety personnel, administrative staff, and new recruits. In-service training will serve to maintain necessary skills and address emerging public safety issues. For new recruits, the primary goal will be to prepare them mentally, morally, and physically to execute the duties of a peace officer in society.
The Santa Clara County Harold Holden Justice Training Center will be used only for classroom and physical training. Emergency vehicle operations and firearms courses will take place at other training facilities.
The Sheriff’s Office in affiliation with Gavilan College will start a Basic Academy for new recruits on May 22, 2006. In-service training for public safety personnel will be ongoing. Training for Probation staff will commence at the new Justice Training Center beginning July 1, 2006.
We encourage volunteers who are interested in assisting with the Justice Training center to contact the Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Unit, at (408) 808-4570.
