**UPDATE** Lottery Scam turns into robbery

Last modified: 3/13/2012 5:08 PM

The Sheriff’s office is trying to identify the person in the above photos.  He is a suspect in a lottery scam in which the victim lost $25 thousand dollars.  Typically, the suspect approaches a victim in a parking lot and states he has a winning lottery ticket, but he can’t cash it because he is an illegal alien.  He offers a share of the winnings to the victim if they give the suspect some cash.  In one case, the victim changed his mind after leaving the bank and started to back out of the deal. The suspect allegedly pointed a gun into the back of the victim and took the money.

Our concern is that the suspect will strike again in the near future.  We need your assistance in getting this information and the photo out to the community with a request for identification of the suspect. A good quality photo is available at the Sheriff’s office. Anyone with knowledge of the suspect is encouraged to call Sgt. Dean Baker at 408-808-4500.
