On August 1, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the 2006 National Night Out campaign.
Sheriff’s Office SERT, Bomb Squad and Motorcycle team officers will be on hand to meet with the community and answer questions. Local Fire Department personnel will be participating in this event as well.
The Sheriff’s Office has selected two locations for tonight activities. The first location will be at the Luther Burbank School located at 4 Wabash Avenue in San Jose. The second location will be at the Loma Prieta School, located at 2380 Summit Road in Los Gatos. Both events will run from 6pm-9pm.
National Night Out is designed to:
• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 34 million people participated in NNO 2005.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is inviting all members of the community to come and join us in the 2006 National Night Out.
