On Thursday, August 10, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office West Valley Division conducted a Pedestrian Safety Campaign in the city of Saratoga.
The Sheriff’s Office West Valley Division responded to numerous complaints from residents, and business owners/employee’s, regarding pedestrian roadway crossing on Big Basin Way. Three motorcycle traffic Deputies, and three pedestrian decoys (Deputies) were utilized for this successful safety initiative. Pedestrian safety is very important to the Sheriff’s Office, and with the notice of this event in the newspaper, radio, and Internet, the public was reminded to be patient in areas with high pedestrian traffic. With education through enforcement, the traffic Deputies cited 29 drivers for not yielding to pedestrians that were lawfully in marked crosswalks.
