On Friday December 17, 2004, from 7 PM to 2 AM, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint located northbound Highway 9, South of Via Colina Dr., in the city of Saratoga. This checkpoint is held in conjunction with the region-wide Avoid the 13 Campaign.
Sheriff’s Deputies will staff the sobriety checkpoints. Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs will be arrested.
Our goal is to insure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of drunk driving. A sobriety checkpoint is an effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations. By publicizing our efforts we believe we can deter motorists from drinking and driving.
Our objective is to send a clear message to those considering mixing alcohol and / or drugs with driving this holiday season.
For additional information on this checkpoint, contact Sgt. Rick Turini at (408) 882-2103.
