Alteration of Imitation Firearm – San Jose (Fairgrounds)  A male subject was attending a party at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds when he got into an argument, during which he displayed an air soft gun in public.  The imitation gun didn’t have markings on the tip of the barrel to indicate it was not a real gun.  He was cited and released with a court date.

Identity Theft – Los Altos  At 9:30 a.m. a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Topar Avenue on a report of identity theft.  Unknown suspect (s) used victim’s personal information to open two residential electricity accounts.  The suspects are currently at large.

Petty Theft – Cupertino  At 5:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Sears in Cupertino on a report of a petty theft.  The female suspect entered Sears with her kids, selected several items and attempted to leave the property without paying for the items.  She was cited and released without a court date.

Lost License Plate – Mountain View  A reporting party contacted the Sheriff’s Office for missing a license plate from his employer’s car, which was parked in the Navy Lodge parking lot, 593 Vernon Avenue from, 6/4/10 to 11/9/10.  He could not think of who might have removed the plate and there are no witnesses.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Los Gatos  At 7:35 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol made an investigative stop on a Toyota coupe on Idylwild at Old Santa Cruz Highway.  The driver of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license.  A search of the driver revealed methamphetamine and hypodermic needles from the suspect’s shirt pocket.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Petty Theft – Cupertino At 5:55 pm, a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to an apartment on the 21000 block of Stevens Creek Blvd on the report of a petty theft.  The victim left his laptop in the lobby of a restaurant in Cupertino the previous day.  An employee was only able to locate the protective case for the laptop.  There are no known suspects at this time.

False Impersonation – San Jose  At 1:15 p.m. a female walked into the Sheriff’s Office to report that an unknown suspect used her identity when two traffic citations were issued by Sheriff’s deputies.  The victim found out when she received a notice from DMV that her license was suspended.  The unknown suspect is still at large, and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Fail to Register as Sex Registrant – San Jose  At 8:20 a.m. a Sheriff’s deputy made contact with a male subject on Santa Clara Street for displaying the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  A persons check revealed that the subject was out of compliance with the sex registration.  He was also in possession of a meth pipe.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Gilroy  At 1:35 a.m. while serving a felony arrest warrant, deputies found a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on the suspect’s person.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for the warrant and drug-related charges.

Identity Theft – Los Altos Hills  At 3:55 p.m. a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence on the 27000 block of Fawn Creek Court on the report of identity theft.  An unknown suspect opened a credit card account using the victim’s personal information to purchase $250 worth of clothing.  The victim became aware of the identity theft when he was contacted by a collection agency.  The victim did not give permission to anyone to use his personal information.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Stolen Camper – Unincorporated Saratoga  At 10 a.m. a resident met with a Sheriff’s deputy to report a missing camper.  The victim left his camper on his property, on the 17000 block of McGill Road, on or about 11/12/2009.  When he went back to the property on 12/28/2009, he noticed the camper was missing.  He could not think of anyone who might have done this.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Suspended D/L – Los Gatos  At 10:15 p.m. a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Honda sedan on Hwy 17 at Redwood Estates for various traffic violations.  A records check of the driver revealed that the suspect had a suspended CA driver’s license for prior DUI convictions, which also required him to have an ignition interlock device.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for the above violations.

Misappropriation of Lost Property – Cupertino  At 8:20 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy stopped a Ford pickup for a vehicle code violation on Bollinger Road at Tantau Avenue.  During investigation, the deputy located property that belonged to another person in the vehicle.  The driver failed to turn the found items over to Law Enforcement to find the owner. The passenger of the vehicle also had a meth pipe on him.  Both suspects were cited and released with a court date.

Dangerous Weapon – San Jose  At 12:20 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Honda sedan for traffic violations in the area of Tully Road and Glen Angus Way.  Upon contact, the male driver admitted that he had marijuana inside his vehicle.  During the search, the deputy found a black metal knuckles in the driver side map pocket.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a dangerous weapon and marijuana.

Possession of Marijuana – San Jose (Drug Court)  At 10 a.m., a female subject entered the screening station of the Terraine Courthouse (Drug Court) and placed a metal container, which had marijuana inside, in a bin prior to proceeding through the metal detector. The female was cited and released with a court date.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Gilroy  At 11:59 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Pontiac coupe in the area of Welburn Avenue and Wayland Lane for a traffic violation.  Shortly after the contact, the male driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  He was transported and booked into the Main Jail.

Under the Influence – Morgan Hill  At 9 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Isuzu SUV for a traffic violation in the area of Monterey and Main.  Upon contact, the deputy noticed that the male driver displayed numerous mixed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  Upon a set of field sobriety tests, the suspect was arrested and transported to the Main Jail where he was booked for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Solicit without a Permit – Saratoga  At 12:50 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 13000 block of Myren Drive on a report of suspicious females.  Upon arrival, the deputy located the females, who were carrying pamphlets to sell magazines without a permit.  Both parties were cited for soliciting without a permit and released with a court date.

Embezzlement – San Martin At 5:15pm., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a business located in the 12000 block of Monterey Highway on the report of embezzlement.  According to the manager, a male employee stole several books from the store over a 27-day period.  The employee was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

DUI Probation – Cupertino At 1:55am., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Ford pickup truck for an expired tab on Hwy 85 at Stevens Creek Blvd.  Upon contact with the driver, the deputy smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath. A driver’s license check indicated the driver was on probation for DUI.  He was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for probation violation and false registration tab.

Warrant – San Jose  At 5:55 pm., a Sheriff’s deputy stopped a Mercedes sedan for a traffic violation on Story Road and Captiol Expressway.  Upon contact with the deputy, the male passenger exited the vehicle and ran away from the scene.  A person’s check on the passenger revealed that he had no bail warrant for parole violation.  The suspect was subsequently arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

False Registration Tab – Mountain View  At 12:05 am., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of El Camino Real and Freeway 85 stopped a Honda sedan for Expired Registration.  Upon contact, the deputy found that the registration tab was not issued to the vehicle.  The driver was cited for false tab and released from the scene with a court date.

Possession of Marijuana while driving – San Martin  At 11:50pm., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Highway 101 and San Martin Avenue stopped a Lincoln sedan for a traffic violation.  Upon contact with the driver, the deputy was able to smell the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle revealed a usable amount of marijuana.  The driver was cited and released from the scene with a court date.

Stolen Vehicle – San Jose  At 1:25pm., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Maywood Avenue and Ginger Avenue stopped a green Honda for a traffic violation.  A registration check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Campbell.  The driver was taken into custody for driving a stolen vehicle and probation violation.

Bicycle Theft – Saratoga   A bicycle theft occurred at Redwood Middle School. The victim left his bicycle unattended in the designated bike area.  Approximately 24 hours later, the victim returned to where he had parked his bicycle when he discovered that it had been stolen.  The victim was not certain whether or not he had locked his bicycle.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Theft by Credit Card – Los Altos Hills  At 12pm., a Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence in the 26000 block of Alexander Place on a report of a theft by credit card.  An unknown suspect unlawfully obtained the victim’s Visa credit card and made various purchases at gas stations and retail stores.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Petty Theft – Cupertino  At 11:45am., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the JC Penny store in Cupertino on the report of a petty theft.  A female subject came into the store, took a long sleeve shirt from a rack and attempted to leave the store without paying for the item.  She was cited and released with a court date.

Identity Theft – Los Altos  At 7:40am, a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Lundy Lane on the report of an identity theft.  This morning, the victim was notified by her bank that her credit card was used to purchase gas and other goods by an unknown suspect.  The victim immediately checked the glove compartment of her unlocked car and noticed that her wallet containing the credit card was missing.  The victim didn’t give anyone her permission to use the credit card.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Marijuana in Court Building – San Jose (Drug Court)  At 2:45pm, a Sheriff’s deputy assigned to the Security Screening Station saw a male subject take a green leafy substance our of his pocket and place it in the security bin.  Based on training and experience, the deputy immediately noticed the substance was marijuana.  The male suspect was cited and released with a court date.

Possession of Methemaphetamine – Gilroy  At 12:15 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Bolsa Road and Travel Park Circle noticed a bicyclist traveling the wrong way.  Upon contact, the deputy was able to smell marijuana on the bicyclist.  A search of the bicyclist revealed marijuana and methamphetamine.  He was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Parole Hold – San Jose  At 9:50 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of White Road for a welfare check on the resident.  Upon contact, the deputy noticed the subject, who identified himself as a parolee, was displaying symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  A search of the residence revealed a usable amount of methamphetamine.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance and parole violation.

Identity Theft – San Martin  At 10:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of King George Court on a report of an identity theft case.  This morning the victim received a call from her friend asking if she was okay.  Her friend then told the victim that she had received an email from claiming to be the ‘victim’ that she was stranded in England after being mugged and that she was in need of money.  When the victim logged on to her email account, she noticed that all her contacts had been deleted.  The victim could not think of who might have done this.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Burglary (Auto) – Cupertino  At 8:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a Vallco Mall parking lot on the report of a prior vehicle burglary.  The victim parked his Dodge minivan in the parking lot and went into the mall earlier in the afternoon.  When the victim returned at 8 p.m., he noticed the driver window had been shattered.  Two iPod Touch MP3 players were missing from the interior of the vehicle.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Shopping Cart – San Jose   At 11:30 a.m.,  a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of S. White Road and Story Road saw a male subject pushing a shopping cart.  The shopping cart had a visible sign that stated that it’s a crime to remove the shopping cart from its store property.  The suspect was cited and released with a court date.

Trespassing – Gilroy  At 9:45 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Water District property on a report of trespassers.  The subjects were living in a tent on the property without Water District’s consent and the agent representing Water District wished prosecution for the trespassers.  The suspects were cited for trespassing and released with a court date.

Identity Theft – Los Gatos  At 10:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 22000 block of Call of The Wild in Los Gatos on a report of identity theft.  According to the victim, an unknown suspect obtained his personal identifying information and opened an online account in the victim’s name.  The suspect is currently at large and this case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Bicycle Theft – Morgan Hill  At 9:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 10000 block of Hale Avenue on the report of a prior theft.   The victim left her bicycle on the corner of Hale Avenue and Kalana Avenue the previous night when she was cleaning her garage.  When the victim returned to her bicycle this morning, she noticed that it was gone.  The victim can’t think anyone who might have taken her bike without her permission.

Commercial Burglary – Saratoga  At 9:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a business in the 18000 block of Prospect Road on the report of a prior burglary.  The reporting party left the business at approximately 9:30 p.m. the previous day and returned to his business this morning when he discovered that his business has been ransacked.  Several items were taken by the unknown suspect (s).  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Parole Hold – San Jose (Hall of Justice)  At 10 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy assigned to Department 49 at Hall of Justice noticed a verbal disturbance between a male and a female.  The male subject, who did not have a court matter, was escorted out of the courtroom.  The deputy saw that the male subject was displaying the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The subject was also on parole for drug-related charges.  After conducting a set of field sobriety tests on the male, the deputy believed he was under the influence of a stimulant.  The suspect was also arrested for parole violation and booked into the Main Jail.

Bicycle Theft – Cupertino  At 4 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Monte Vista High School on the report a bicycle theft.  The victim rode his bicycle to school earlier during the day and locked it up in the bike racks located on the east side of the campus.  The victim noticed that his bike was missing when he went to get his bike after school.  The victim didn’t give permission to anyone to take his bike and he couldn’t think of anyone who might have done this.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Vandalism – San Antonio Regional Park  At 10:55 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the parking lot of Rancho San Antonio Park on the report of a vandalism in progress.  Upon arrival, deputies met with the reporting party, who saw two unknown suspects break the windows of a parked vehicle.  The suspects already fled the scene.  The owner of the vehicle was contacted by the Sheriff’s Office.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Fraudulent Tab – San Jose (Hall of Justice)  At 10:45 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Court Security Division were conducting a perimeter check when they spotted a vehicle illegally parked in the police parking only zone.  A registration check on the vehicle revealed that the year tab on the rear license plate had been reported stolen out of Santa Cruz.  The owner of the vehicle was subsequently contacted and cited for illegal parking and fraudulent tab.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Los Gatos  At 8:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Aldercroft Heights Road and Old Santa Cruz Highway stopped a Ford pickup for a traffic violation.  When asked if there were any drugs or illegal items in the car, the front passenger told the deputy that he had a methpipe in his pant pocket.  During the search of the truck, the deputy located a bag containing prescribed medication.  Both the driver and the passenger were arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Residential Burglary – Gilroy  At 6 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 8800 block of El Matador Drive on the report of a prior burglary.  The victims are in the process of moving into the above residence.  At 2 p.m., upon dropping off personal items, they left to get more things from the previous residence.  When they returned at 6 p.m., they saw the front door smashed in and many items were ‘gone.’  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Under the Influence/Warrant – San Jose At 0830 hours, deputies assigned to the Security Screening Station (SSS) at Juvenile Hall, 840 Guadalupe Pkwy, noticed that a male visitor in the waiting area displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  Through the driver’s license check, the deputies learned that the male subject had a $10,000 warrant.  He also admitted to have smoked methamphetamine the previous day.  He was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Identity Theft – Morgan Hill  At 3:45 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy met with an identity theft victim at the South County substation.  The victim received several letters from the Internal Revenue Service stating that he owed money from the tax years of 2003-2009.  The victim has been working as a roofer and has never held another job.  He could not think of anyone who might have done this.  The case is being investigated by both the Sheriff’s Office and the IRS.

Unlicensed Driver – Los Gatos  At 7:40 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Alma Bridge and Soda Springs Road conducted a car stop on a Chevy van for a traffic violation.  The driver’s license check indicated that the male subject’s license was suspended.  The subject was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance.  The deputy arrested the suspect and booked him into the Main Jail.

Misappropriation of Found PropertyCupertino  At 11 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol contacted a male subject, who was taking a shower inside a carwash.  The search of the subject’s backpack revealed a Motorola cell phone valued at $550.  The deputy contacted the victim, the owner of the cell phone, who stated that she had lost her cell phone approximately two weeks prior.  The suspect did not make any attempt to return the property back to the victim.  He was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Stolen Vehicle – San Jose  At 7:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Joseph Grant Ranch County park on the report of a stolen vehicle.  The victim arrived at the park at 6:30 p.m. and parked his vehicle in the parking lot.  When he returned approximately one hour later, he noticed that his vehicle had been stolen.  He did not give permission to anyone to take his vehicle and he could not think of anyone who might have done this.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Warrant – San Jose  Sheriff’s Warrants Unit deputies arrested a male suspect, who was wanted for a parole violation, at a residence in the 13000 block of Sylvandale Avenue.  During the search of the suspect’s residence, deputies located 20 hypodermic needles and black tar heroin.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Theft – Cupertino  At 9:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence in the 10000 block of Orange Avenue on the report of a possible fraud.  The victim and the suspect entered a written contract to complete repair work on the victim’s residence within a two-day period.  The victim gave the suspect a $200 cash advance for materials to complete the work.  The suspect took the money but he never returned to complete the job.  The suspect also has an active $10,000 arrest warrant.

Possession of Controlled Substance – San Jose  At 7:50 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Vaughn Avenue on the report of an unknown female sleeping in the garage.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted the female subject, who claimed to have marijuana and a meth pipe in her purse.  The meth pipe contained approximately .2grams of methamphetamine.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Vandalism – Los Gatos  At 9 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 23000 block of Summit Road on the report of an unknown disturbance.  Upon arrival, the deputies learned that the victim’s ex-boyfriend, who doesn’t live with the victim, broke her front door.  The boyfriend was subsequently located by the deputies and arrested for felony vandalism as well as violating the terms and conditions of his probation.

Possession of Controlled Substance – San Jose  At 5:40 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Monterey Road and Coyote Ranch Road stopped an Oldsmobile sedan for a traffic violation.  The driver was contacted and subsequently arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The search of the suspect vehicle yielded a usable amount of methamphetamine.  The driver was booked into the Main Jail and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

False Impersonation – Cupertino  At 5:50 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 20000 block of Cupertino Road on the report of a false impersonation.  The victim believed that her friend, who lives in Arizona, used the victim’s identity when cited for a traffic violation in Arizona on 5/11/2010.  The victim received a letter from Maricopa County Justice Courts stating that she has an outstanding balance of $1,682.  The victim attempted to get in contact with her friend multiple times but failed.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Under the Influence – San Jose  At 10:55 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Ford hatchback for a vehicle code violation in the area of Mt. Umunham at Hicks Road.  Upon contact with the driver, the deputy noticed that he displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The deputy had the subject exit the vehicle for field sobriety tests.  Upon completion, the deputy determined that the subject, who was already on active probation for drug-related charges, was under the influence of a controlled substance.  The suspect was booked into the Main Jail and his vehicle was towed.

First Street and Burton Avenue stopped a Toyota sedan for a traffic violation.  The driver was on probation and the passenger was a parolee at large.  During the search of the person, the deputy found methamphetamine and heroin on the driver.  Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Vandalism – Cupertino At 10:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Hooshang Court on the report of a vandalism.  The victim’s two-door Acura was parked in the driveway the previous night when an unknown suspect used a large rock to smash the rear window.  The victim didn’t see anyone suspicious or hear any noise during the incident.  The case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

False ID to Peace Officer – San Jose At 2:35 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Sunol Avenue and Park Avenue saw a male subject pushing a cart, which belonged to a local supermarket.  Upon contact, the male provided false information to the deputy.  During the course of investigation, the deputy was able to get the suspect’s true identity and the suspect had a warrant for probation violation.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Burglary – Los Altos Hills  At 7 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 10000 block of Page Mill Road on the report of a residential burglary.  The victim, the property owner, does not live at the address; however, he checks on the house from time to time.  The victim believes that the burglary occurred between 6/30/10 and 7/20/10.  The unknown suspect pried open the rear entrance and entered the house.  Several sweatshirts and a flat screen computer monitor were stolen.  The case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Los Gatos At 11 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Highway 17 and Idylwild stopped a Ford sedan for a traffic violation.  Upon contacting the driver, the deputy noticed that a shopping bag on the front passenger seat had loose cash and plastic baggies inside.  Based on training and experience, the deputy believed the baggies contained a controlled substance.  Further investigation revealed that the baggies contained methamphetamine.  The driver was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Unlicensed Driver – Los Gatos  At 9 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Bear Creek Road and Montevina Road stopped an Audi sedan for a traffic violation.  The vehicle’s rear plate had a tab, which belonged to a motorcycle.  The female driver’s license had been suspended.  The driver was cited and released from the scene with a court date, and her vehicle was impounded.

Petty Theft – Cupertino  Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Marina Foods on Bandley Drive on the report of a petty theft.  The store cashier, who saw a male grab some plastic bags from his clerk stand earlier, saw the same male leave the store with the plastic bags loaded with groceries without paying.  The store manager stopped the male suspect and called the Sheriff’s Office.  The suspect was cited and released from the scene with a court date.

Possession of Marijuana – San Jose  At 9:50p.m., Sheriff’s deputies contacted the driver of a grey VW sedan for a parking violation on Mt. Umunhum Road at Hicks Road.   Upon contact, the deputies were able to smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  During the search, two open bottles containing alcoholic beverage and marijuana were found inside the vehicle.  The driver was cited for possession of marijuana and open container, and he was released from the scene with a court date.

Reckless Driving – San Jose At 1 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol saw an Acura hatchback cutting across multiple lanes while traveling over 90mph on Fwy 101.  The Acura almost collided into the deputy patrol vehicle as the deputy attempted to conduct an enforcement stop.  The driver told the deputy that he was upset because he just broke up with his girlfriend.  The driver was cited for reckless driving and released from the scene with a court date.

Theft by Credit Card – Gilroy  The victim stopped at a business in the 10000 block of Pacheco Pass Highway for a rest break.  She locked the doors and window to her vehicle and entered the business. When she returned approximately an hour later, she didn’t notice anything unusual other than the front passenger side window being down approximately one inch.  It wasn’t until a day later when she discovered that her American Express card was missing from her purse.  The victim subsequently learned that an unknown suspect used her credit card to purchase approximately $500 worth of merchandise in the City of Marina.  The case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Communication with Inmate – Hall of Justice  At 9:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy removed a female visitor for communicating with one of the inmates in Department 50.  The female subject refused to identify herself to the deputies and made threatening comments.  The female displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  She was arrested and booked into the Main Jail after performing a set of field sobriety tests.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Sanborn County Park  At 7:50 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Sanborn County park on the report of a camper causing a disturbance in the camping area.  A consent search of the camper’s tent revealed methamphetamine.  The male suspect claimed the illegal drug belonged to his ex-wife, who didn’t have access to his tent.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Trespassing – San Martin  At 11:30 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a business in the 13000 block of Sycamore Avenue on the report of a suspicious person sleeping in the victim’s motor home at the business.  The reporting party stated that the male suspect didn’t have permission to be at the place of business.  The suspect also provided false information to deputies when requested.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for trespassing and providing false information to a peace officer.

Burglary – Los Altos Hills  At 10 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 26000 block of Weston Drive on the report of a prior burglary.  The victim left his house vacant for a few hours and, upon return, noticed that the sliding door to the garage was open and several items were missing from the interior of the house.  The victim had locked the sliding door prior to his departure and he didn’t see anyone suspicious.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Counterfeit – Cupertino  At 2:30 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Sears Department store on the 10000 block of N. Wolfe Road on the report of a male suspect attempting to pass a counterfeit bill.  The suspect entered the store and selected several items.  He then approached the cashier and presented a $100 bill, which the cashier believed was a counterfeit.  As the cashier was trying to call the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect fled.  The suspect is at large, and the case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Boating Under The Influence – Anderson Reservoir  At 6 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in a marked Sheriff’s boat stopped a personal watercraft for a county ordinance violation.  Upon contact with the operator, the deputy was able to smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.  The operator performed a series of field sobriety tests, which includes a PAS (Preliminary Alcohol Screening) test.  Based on the result, the deputy believed the subject was operating his watercraft under the influence of alcohol.  The male suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for boating under the influence.

Burglary – Morgan Hill  A Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of San Bruno Avenue on the report of a prior burglary.  On Wednesday, June 23, the victim had locked the doors and windows to his residence and went to his brother’s house in Gilroy.  Upon his return, he saw that one of his windows was broken and several items from the interior of his residence had been stolen.  The suspect is still at large and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this crime.

Petty Theft – Mountain View   At 6:20 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Akron Street  on the report of a bicycle theft.  The victim had left her pink bicycle on her front porch the previous day.  When she returned home from work today, she noticed that her bicycle was missing.  The victim did not see anyone suspicious prior to the incident or gave anyone permission to ride her bicycle.  The victim’s bicycle is worth approximately $300.  The unknown suspect is still at large and this case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Assault / Battery – San Jose  At 5 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a business on S. Bascom Avenue on the report of an assault and battery.  The victim, a former employee of a window tinting business located in the 900 block of S. Bascom Avenue, confronted the owner for the money the owner owes.  The owner became angry and punched the victim in the face causing a small cut on his left cheek.  The owner was cited and released with a court date for assaulting his former employee.

Vandalism – San Martin  At 11 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of East Middle Avenue on the report of a vandalism.  Earlier during the day, the victim was working in his garage when he heard a loud noise in front of his house.  When the victim went out to the driveway to investigate what happened, he saw that the rear window of his car was shattered.  The victim believed the unknown suspect might have used a BB gun or a pellet gun to break the window.  The suspect is still at large and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Trespassing – San Jose At 7 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Valley Medical Center, located in the 700 block of Bascom Avenue on the report of a person refusing to leave the facility.  The male subject was asked to leave the business by Santa Clara County Protective Service Officers; however, he began to yell at people, who were exiting and entering the hospital facility.  The hospital staff placed the subject under private person’s arrest.  The deputies cited and suspect and released him with a court date.

Parole Hold – Cupertino At 6:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s K-9 Unit on routine patrol stopped an Eagle sedan for a traffic violation on De Anza Blvd and Lazaneo.  Upon a driver’s license check, the deputy learned that the driver was on parole for drug charges.  The deputy conducted a K9 sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in discovery of methamphetamine and marijuana.  The California Department of Correction placed the suspect on CDC parole hold.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Defrauding an Innkeeper – Cupertino  At 9 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a restaurant in the 10000 block of N. Wolfe Road on the report of two patrons, who ran out of the restaurant without paying the bill.  Per the manager, two male suspects ordered and ate $53 worth of food and fled in a Pontiac hatchback without paying for their food.  The unknown suspects are still at large, and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Under The Influence – Los Gatos At 11 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 16000 block of Soda Springs Road on the report of a suspicious vehicle.  Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the male passenger inside a red Subaru.  The male displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant.  After a series of field sobriety tests, the subject was arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine.  A meth pipe was also found inside the vehicle.  The suspect was transported and booked into the Main Jail for the above charges.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Morgan Hill  At 10:10 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was driving by a Chevy pickup parked on a dirt shoulder off Uvas Road when the male occupant of the Chevy exited the vehicle and began walking toward the patrol car.  When the deputy made contact with the male, he noticed the subject displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant.  The male subject further told the deputy that he had a warrant for probation violation. The deputy also located three small bags of methamphetamine in the suspect’s vehicle.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.

Possession of Fake ID – San Jose  At 10:25 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a bowling alley in the 14000 block of Camden Avenue on the report of a person trying to use a fake ID to purchase alcohol.  The 20-year old male suspect fled the scene when the bartender told him she would call the police.  Deputies were able to obtain the suspect’s cell phone number from his friends, who were still at the bowling alley, and were able to persuade him to come back to the scene.  Upon return, the suspect was cited and released with a court date for possessing a fake ID.

Forgery – San Jose   At 11:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 14000 block of Woodhaven Drive on the report of an identity theft.  The unknown suspect showed interest to rent victim’s house and sent a fraudulent check to the victim as a deposit for rent.  The victim did not know the check was false.  The check amount was $2200.00 more than requested.  The suspect emailed the victim and asked her to cash the check and wire the $2200.00 back.  The victim cashed the check and wired the money to the suspect; however, the victim’s bank later told her the check was false.  The suspect is still at large and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Gilroy  At 12:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation.  Upon contact, the deputy immediately noticed that the male subject displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant.  After a series of field sobriety tests, the deputy arrested the subject for being under the influence of a stimulant.  The search incident to arrest revealed a usable amount of methamphetamine in the suspect’s left sock.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for the listed charges.

Possession of Marijuana – Los Gatos  At 11 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a red Mazda, with four occupants, for a traffic violation on Hwy 17 at Summit.  Upon contact with the occupants, the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  One of the rear-passengers had a black bag, which contained a plastic bag of marijuana, without a medicinal marijuana card.  The suspect was cited and released with a court date.

Stolen Vehicle – San Jose At 11 a.m., a Sheriff’s sergeant on routine patrol in the area of East Hills Drive and Meadow Lane saw a Toyota pickup that appeared to have been abandoned.  Upon closer examination, the sergeant learned that the rear plate didn’t match the front plate, which had been reported stolen out of San Jose.  Because the owner could not be contacted, deputies stored the vehicle via a tow company.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Theft by False Pretense – Los Gatos    At 3:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 17000 block of Oak Drive.  Per the victim, the suspect advertised a bicycle for sale on oodle.com for $2400.00. The victim corresponded with S1 via e-mail and agreed to purchase the bicycle for $2400.00. The suspect sent a fraudulent invoice to the victim, which promised a purchase protection and guarantee from eBay. The invoice instructed the victim to send the payment to the suspect in the United Kingdom via Western Union. He sent the money and paid a $125.00 fee bringing his total payment to $2525.00. The victim discovered the invoice was false and has not received his bicycle. This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Ecstasy Pills – Cupertino   At 10:20 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Nissan sedan in the area of Homestead Road and Wolfe Road for an expired registration.  Upon contact with the female driver, the deputy learned that she was wanted in the State of Virginia.  During the search of her wallet, the deputy located three Ecstasy Pills.  She admitted to purchasing the pills for $20.00.  She was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Theft With Prior Conviction – San Jose  At 4 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an in-progress bicycle theft in the area of Linda Flora Street and Joanne Avenue.  First arriving deputies put out the suspect description, and several incoming units located and detained two individuals – one male adult and one female juvenile - matching the description. The suspects admitted that they used a pair of bolt cutters to cut a chain and stole the bicycle.  The male suspect had a prior theft conviction.  He was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for a felony theft and the female juvenile was cited and released.

Identity Theft – Los Gatos  At 10:20 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence in the 15000 block of Wood Acres Road on a report of identity theft.  The victim stated that he received several letters from various banks indicating that he had applied for credit lines. The victim was certain that he had not applied for any credit with the banks.  The victim has been advised to contact the major credit bureaus and ask to flag his name and social security to prevent any further incident.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Under Influence of Controlled Substance / Warrant – San Jose  At 6 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the corner of Olympia and Shamrock Avenue on the report of a suspicious parked vehicle.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted two subjects in a black Hyundai.  The female passenger appeared very nervous and fidgety.  When asked, she told deputies that she had a warrant out of Santa Cruz County.  Deputies evaluated the suspect for being under the influence of a controlled substance and determined that she was under the influence of a stimulant.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Los Gatos At 1 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Highway 17 and Bear Creek stopped a silver Mazda with a burned tail lamp.  When asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle, the driver admitted he had a “meth pipe.”  The deputy searched the suspect and found a baggie containing methamphetamine in his pant pocket.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a meth pipe and controlled substance.

Vandalism – Saratoga  At 10:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence in the 12000 block of Candy Lane on the report of a prior vandalism.  The victim parked his Honda minivan on Candy Lane in front of his home overnight.  This morning, the victim saw that one of the rear lights on his van was broken and, as he inspected the minivan further, he saw several scratches and a long dent along the driver’s side of his van.  Victim’s wife heard a banging noise at approximately 12:30 a.m., but did not think anything of it at the time.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Misappropriation of Found Property – Cupertino  At 10:50p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol was flagged down at a gas station, on N. De Anza Blvd, by a male, who claimed that the gas station cashier stole his iPod phone.  Earlier during the day, the victim left his phone in the restroom.  Once realized, the victim called and spoke with the suspect, who told the victim that he had the victim’s phone.  When the victim came back to the gas station to claim his phone, the suspect denied finding victim’s cell phone.  When questioned by the deputy, the suspect confessed that he had hidden the phone in the bushes behind the gas station.  The phone was recovered and the suspect was arrested for misappropriating found property.

Vandalism – Gilroy  At 1:40 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a ranch in the 100 block of Santa Clara Avenue on a prowler call.  The victim heard a noise coming from the equipment room on his 10-acre ranch and went outside to investigate the cause of the noise.  He then saw a male suspect spray painting one of the several ranch signs.  As the victim shined his flashlight on the suspect, the suspect dropped his backpack and ran through the field.  Deputies collected the backpack and other pieces of evidence lest at the scene.  The unknown suspect is still at large, and this vandalism case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Stolen Property – San Jose At 5:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of N. Cragmont Avenue and Madeline Drive for a report of two people tampering with a vehicle.  Upon arrival, deputies located two suspects standing next to a white Toyota pickup truck with its four tires removed.  The missing tires were located in a red Toyota sedan, later identified as the suspects’ vehicle.  Deputies also learned that the Toyota pickup had been reported stolen out of San Jose.  Two meth pipes were also located inside the vehicle.  Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of stolen property and meth pipes.

Burglary – Saratoga At 9:50 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 14000 block of Stoneridge Drive on the report of a prior burglary.  The victim left her home for vacation on 4/30/10, and, upon her return one week later, the victim found property missing throughout her house.  The unknown suspect (s) stole DVDs, CDs, a desktop computer, power tools, and U.S. currency.  The victim could not think of who might have done this, and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.  The Sheriff’s Office is advising the residents of our county to notify their respective law enforcement agencies when their homes are vacant for en extended period.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Jose  At 6:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy stopped a Toyota sedan on northbound Highway 101 toward Highway 85 for a carpool violation.  Upon contact, the driver told the deputy he didn’t have his driver’s license because he lost it.  The driver looked through his wallet and told the deputy he could not find any other form of ID to present.  The deputy asked the driver if he could look in his wallet and the driver handed his wallet over to the deputy.  As the deputy opened the wallet, he saw a small Ziploc back containing what appeared to be methamphetamine.  A field test confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Vandalism – San Martin At 11:20 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 1900 block of Buena Vista Avenue on the report of a prior vandalism.  The victim’s neighbor contacted her and told her that someone had spray painted “MUTE OINK” on her fence.  This signature was spotted at several other locations in South County.  The victim could not think of who might have done this, and the case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Hamilton Road was flagged down by a female driver reporting a suspicious vehicle parked in a nearby turn-out.  The deputy responded to the location and contacted two occupants of the vehicle to determine whether or not they were trespassing.  During contact, the deputy found several pieces of stolen property in suspects’ possession.  Both suspects were arrested for possession of stolen property and booked into the Main Jail.

Narcotics Registrant – Campbell  At 10:50 p.m., a Sheriff deputy made a car stop on a white Honda for abruptly turning in front of his patrol car on S. Bascom Avenue at Shamrock Drive almost causing an accident.  The vehicle was occupied by two males, and the passenger was a narcotics registrant.  Through the course of investigation, the deputy learned that the passenger had moved to another location and didn’t update his new address, which is a violation of his terms and conditions.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Possession of Marijuana for Sale – Cupertino At 4:45 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Stevens Creek Blvd at Bubb Road stopped a vehicle with an expired registration tab.  Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy was able to smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  In the car, the deputy located over two pounds of marijuana and other evidence indicating the driver was selling the marijuana to others.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of marijuana for sales.

Soliciting Without Permit – Saratoga  At 4:15 p.m.,  Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 18000 block of McFarland Drive on the report of a suspicious female going door-to-door selling magazines.  Upon arrival, deputies were able to locate and detain the female subject, who was from Georgia.  She told the deputies that she was affiliated with a magazine retailer; however, her company didn’t provide her with a permit to solicit for business in the City of Saratoga.  She was cited and released from the scene with a court date.

Grand Theft – Morgan Hill At 9:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 15000 block of Sunnyside Avenue on the report of a prior theft.  The victim stated that several pieces of his motorcycle equipment were stolen from his property.  The list of stolen items includes a motorcycle helmet, black gloves, and a face mask. The victim could not think of who might have done this, and there were no witnesses.  This case is currently being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Vandalism – San Jose At 1:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 5466 Greenside Drive on the report of a prior vandalism. The victim’s vehicle was parked in front of his parents’ residence overnight when an unknown suspect had scratched the side of his car.  According to the insurance claim adjuster, the damage caused by the key marks was approximately $3,000 to $4,000 to repair.  The victim could not think of who might have done this, and the unknown suspect is still at large.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Parole Violation – Gilroy At 10:30 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 12000 block of Foothill Avenue on the report of a trespasser.  The reporting party stated that two suspicious individuals entered one of his vacant properties.  When confronted, a female subject showed the reporting party her ID card and told him she was there with her boyfriend to buy the house. Once told Sheriff’s deputies were on the way, both subjects got into their car and fled the area. With the suspect information given by the reporting party, deputies were able to locate and arrest the suspects, parolees, for trespassing and violating their parole.

Residential Burglary – San Jose  At 2:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 2300 block of Olive Avenue on the report of a prior burglary.  At 12:45p.m., the victims, who are housemates, went out on a bike ride and, when they returned, they found their house ransacked.  Deputies believed the unknown suspect (s) entered the residence through the back door as the doorframe to the rear entrance and the door knob were cracked. The victims could not think of anyone who might have done this, and there are no witnesses to the crime.  The case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Fraudulent Check – Cupertino  At 2:50 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Chase Bank in the 20000 block of Stevens Creek Blvd on a report of a female attempting to pass a fraudulent check. The bank manager stated that the bank computer alerted the teller of the fraudulent activity involving the suspect’s account.  Upon contacting the account holder of the check the suspect attempted to cash, deputies learned that the victim’s check was stolen from her mailbox the previous day.  The suspect, who had been arrested and convicted of possession of stolen property, was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for attempting to pass a stolen check.

Counterfeit DMV Tab – Saratoga  At 3:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Prospect Road and Miller Avenue stopped a Chrysler hatchback for an expired registration.  The registration check revealed that the registration had expired in March of 2009; however, the vehicle had a yellow tab on its rear plate indicating a 2011 tab.  Upon close examination, the deputy had learned that the tab was fake, as if it was a photo copy of a real tab that has been laminated.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a counterfeit tab.

Vandalism – Los Altos Hills At 10:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to an elementary school in the 25000 block of W. Fremont Road on a report of a vandalism.  According to the reporting party, unknown suspects burned wood debris on a set of stairs on the school’s property.  The fire caused the steps to be stained from the burning debris.  There are no known suspects or witnesses to the incident.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Brining Controlled Substance To Jail – Gilroy  At 1 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy contacted a male, who was acting suspiciously in front of a vacant building in the 8000 block of Monterey Road.  Upon contact, the deputy learned that the male subject was a parolee at large.  Prior to booking the suspect into the Main Jail, the deputy advised him to give up any and all drugs in his possession.  The suspect denied having any drugs on him; however, upon thorough search of the suspect, the deputy found a usable amount of methamphetamine.  The suspect was booked into the Main Jail for parole violation and bringing in a controlled substance into a jail facility.

Possession of Marijuana for Sale – Campbell  At 11:30p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Winchester Blvd and Camden Avenue stopped a Honda sedan for a minor traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  The deputy had the driver exit the vehicle and located over an ounce of marijuana in the driver’s pant pocket.  There were other evidence indicating the suspect was selling marijuana.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of marijuana for sale.

Possession of Marijuana – Cupertino A Sheriff’s deputy, who was monitoring traffic in the area of Mary Avenue and Stevens Creek Blvd, saw a vehicle with a mechanical violation.  Upon stopping the vehicle, he determined that one of the occupants had a warrant for his arrest.  The suspect also admitted that he had an ounce of marijuana without a marijuana card. The marijuana was located in the vehicle where the suspect was previously sitting.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for the warrant and possession of marijuana.

Possession of Psilocybin (Mushrooms) – Los Altos Hills  At 7:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol at Purissima Park saw a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot with its windows fogged up.  As the deputy attempted to conduct a welfare check, the door opened up and there was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  During the search of the vehicle, the deputy found psilocybin and marijuana inside the vehicle.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Probation Violation / Possession of Dirk or Dagger – Gilroy  At 1:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Rucker Avenue and Guibal Avenue when he saw a vehicle without a front license plate.  As the deputy attempted to make a car stop, the suspect vehicle quickly turned into the residential area and pulled up into the driveway.  The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  The deputy noticed a dirk/dagger next to the driver seat.  The suspect, who was on probation, was apprehended a short time later.  He was booked into the Main Jail for possession of dirk/dagger, under the influence of a controlled substance, and probation violation.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – San Jose  At 9:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Parkmoor Avenue and Scott Street saw a Chevy coupe parked on the sidewalk.  The deputy contacted the female driver, who was asleep in the backseat, to get her ID. During contact, the driver acted very suspiciously, and this prompted the deputy to ask the driver if there was anything illegal in her vehicle.  The driver said ‘no’ to the deputy and gave him consent to search her vehicle.  The deputy found a meth pipe under the driver’s seat.  The driver was cited and released from the scene with a court date.

Theft From a Vehicle – Cupertino At 9 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a mall in to 10000 block of N. Wolfe Road on the report of a prior vehicle burglary.  The victims, who are co-workers, had left their laptops in the cargo compartment of a GMC SUV prior to walking into a restaurant.  When they returned to the parking lot about an hour later, the laptops were gone.  The victims didn’t believe the doors to the vehicle were locked.  The unknown suspect is at large, and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Gilroy  At 11 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Buick sedan, which was occupied by a female driver and a male passenger, on Monterey at 10th Street for a traffic violation.  Upon contact, the female driver told the deputy she didn’t have her driver’s license with her.  The deputy ran both subjects and County Communication advised that they both had outstanding warrants for their arrest.  The male suspect was also on parole for domestic violence.  During the search of the male, deputies found methamphetamine and money.  Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance and warrants.

Burglary – San Jose  At 3:55 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 7-11 store in the 300 block of White Road on the report of a burglary.  Per the reporting party, a cashier, two suspects (one male and one female) entered the store, took a case of beer, and ran out without paying for it.  Deputies located the male suspect a couple of blocks away from the store.  The female suspect was found lying face down on the ground in front of a residence, approximately a half mile away from the store.  Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Main Jail for burglary.

Under the Influence – Los Gatos  At 4:20 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Toyota pickup in the area of Broadway Drive and Madrone Drive for a minor traffic violation.  Upon contact with the male driver, the deputy noticed that he was displaying the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The deputy had the driver exit the vehicle and conducted a set of field sobriety tests on him.  The driver also admitted to smoking methamphetamine the previous day.  Upon completion of field sobriety tests, the deputy determined that the suspect was under the influence of a controlled substance.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Theft by Debit Card – Los Altos Hills  At 2:40 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 26000 block of Moody Road on a report of a prior theft by debit card.  While checking his bank account on line, the victim discovered a charge of $25 he didn’t recognize.  The victim contacted the merchant, informed the operator the charge was fraudulent, and filed a complaint.  The victim could not think of anyone who might have done this, and the unknown suspect is still at large.

Petty Theft – Cupertino  At 8:55 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to JC Penney in the 10000 block of North Wolfe Road on a report of a theft.  The female suspect walked into JC Penney with her friends, picked up a pair of earrings and a bracelet from the Jewelry Department and placed those items in her purse.  The suspect walked past the cash register without paying for the merchandise when she was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer.  The Loss Prevention Officer wanted the female suspect prosecuted for petty theft.  The suspect was cited and released at the scene with a court date.

Residential Burglary – San Jose  At 10:30 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 20000 block of Almaden Road on the report of a prior burglary.  The victim and his family went on a weekend trip and returned on Tuesday, March 23.  As he entered his office on the first floor, he noticed that his laptop was missing.  Further search of the house revealed that a Sony Playstation from the living room was stolen as well.  It appeared that the unknown suspect entered the residence through a rear window by cutting the window screen open.  The case is being investigated by Sheriff’s detectives.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Gilroy  At 8:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy made a car stop on a VW hatchback on Church at Loupe Court for minor traffic violations.  Upon contact, the driver identified himself to the deputy as a parolee.  The parolee appeared extremely nervous and his hands began shaking as the deputy asked him for needed documents.  The deputy had the driver exit the vehicle and conducted a parole search.  During the search, the deputy found a meth pipe in the suspect’s pant pocket and methamphetamine in his waistband.  The suspect was arrested for violation of parole and possession of a controlled substance.  He was transported and booked into the Main Jail.

Trespassing – San Jose At 4:45 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the old Almaden Air Force Base in the Sierra Azul Preserve on the report of trespassers.  Deputies arrived and located four juveniles loitering on McQueens Ridge property, which is owned by a private party, outside the base.  Upon contact, the juveniles admitted being inside the base and seeing “No Trespassing” signs prior to entering the base.  They were cited and released at the scene.

Theft by Credit Card – Saratoga At 10:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 19000 block of Farwell Avenue on a report of an unauthorized charge on a credit card.  The victim stated that she received a phone call from a male caller claiming to be a representative from a newspaper agency the previous day.  The suspect offered a “one time fee” of $15 for a one year subscription for an electronic newspaper of the agency.  Upon providing her credit card information over the phone, the victim became suspicious of the incident and she called her credit card company.  The victim was told that there was a charge of $59 made on her account, which she didn’t recognize.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Morgan Hill  At 11:55 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol saw an unoccupied Ford coupe parked on the north side of Scheller Avenue with an expired tab on its license plate.  The deputy conducted a registration check on the vehicle, and County Radio confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen out of San Jose Police on 2/22/10.  The radio, air conditioning unit, hood, front bumper, and front fenders were missing from the vehicle.  The deputy attempted to contact the registered owner of the vehicle, but he wasn’t able to reach anyone.  The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the investigation was turned over to San Jose Police.

Petty Theft of Gasoline – Cupertino At 9:15 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a business in the 20000 block of Stevens Creek Blvd on the report of a prior theft.  The victim claimed that gasoline had been siphoned from the gas tank of her company vehicle.  The gas tank of the Ford van could be accessed from the exterior of the car and did not require the use of a key.  The victim believed that approximately 22 gallons of gasoline were stolen.  There are no known witnesses, and the unknown suspect is still at large.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Controlled Substance – San Jose  At 9 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a Volvo sedan in the area of Branham and Almaden Expressway for a minor traffic violation.  The deputy made contact with the driver, who advised the deputy that he was on parole for “Pimping and Pandering.”  The vehicle was occupied by three other subjects, who were either on parole or probation for various drug-related charges.  Two subjects, the driver and a passenger, also displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  Upon completion of field sobriety tests, the deputy determined that both suspects were under the influence of a controlled substance.  A parole search of the suspect vehicle revealed methamphetamine.  Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Main Jail for parole violation, probation violation, possession and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Unlicensed Driver / Warrant – Mountain View  At 2:25 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Hwy 101 and Moffett Blvd stopped a VW Jetta for a traffic violation.  The registration of the vehicle had been expired since September of 2009, but the vehicle had a 2010 tab on its plate.  The female driver of the vehicle produced her driver’s license to the deputy; however, the records indicated that the subject’s driver’s license had been suspended.  In addition, the driver had a $7,000 bench warrant for petty theft.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.  Her car was towed from the scene.

Theft By Debit Card – Cupertino  At 4:20 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy met a victim of a prior theft at the West Valley Patrol Substation.  The victim stated that her debit card information might have been stolen while she was visiting her son in southern California.  The victim went to an Arco gas station for gas, where she could not use her credit card.  She used her debit card instead, and she believed a debit card reader was installed at the pump.  Upon her return to Cupertino, the victim received a call from the Wells Fargo Fraud Unit alerting her of several suspicious charges, which the victim confirmed to be fraudulent.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Violation of Narcotics Registration – Gilroy  At 10:50 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy stopped a female bicyclist for not having a forward light on the bicycle.  Upon contact, the deputy immediately noticed the subject displayed the symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The deputy evaluated the subject and determined that she was under the influence of a controlled substance.  Through a records check, the deputy also confirmed that the suspect was a narcotics registrant, who had violated her terms and conditions.  She was arrested and booked into the Main Jail.

Vandalism – San Jose  At 8 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was on routine patrol at Stonegate Park Community School when he saw a large piece of graffiti on the exterior wall of one of the school buildings.  According to the school principal, the graffiti (“tags”) was not there the previous day.  All tags were written in pencil and the size was approximately seven feet high and three feet wide.  The repair cost, which includes paint and labor, is estimated to be $200.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Petty Theft – Saratoga  At 5:35 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 20000 block of Mendelsohn Lane on the report of a prior theft.  The victim, due to her physical condition, carries a handicap placard in her vehicle.  The victim visited several places to run errands throughout the morning and afternoon in Mountain View.  Her vehicle was kept unlocked at all times.  When the victim returned to her residence, she realized that the handicap placard, which was attached to the rearview mirror, was gone.  The victim didn’t know exactly when and where the placard was stolen from her vehicle.

Bringing Marijuana Into Court – San Jose  At 3:45 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was working at the Juvenile Hall security screening station when a female subject set off the metal detector.  During the search of the female’s jacket pocket, the deputy found a prescription bottle containing marijuana inside.  The suspect admitted that the marijuana belonged to her; however, she was in the process of obtaining a medicinal marijuana card.  The suspect was cited and released with a court date.

Assault/Battery – Gilroy  At 8 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Saint Louise Hospital on the report of a prior assault/battery.  The victim was at the hospital receiving treatment for his minor injuries.  Two weeks ago, the victim, who was renting a room from the suspect, was told by the suspect to move out in one week.  This afternoon, the suspect entered the victim’s room, as he was cleaning the carpet as originally agreed upon, and demanded that the victim clean the bathtub as well.  When the victim refused, the suspect pushed the victim against the wall and placed him in a headlock causing injuries and his necklace to break.  The Sheriff’s detectives are conducting follow-up on the case.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – San Jose At 2 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Greenside Drive and Gordon Avenue noticed an unoccupied black Honda parked on the south shoulder of Greenside Drive.  A registration check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of San Jose since Tuesday, February 23.  Upon close examination, the deputy saw the stereo equipment missing.  The vehicle didn’t sustain any other damages.  The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and the owner was notified.

Forged Bill – San Jose  At 4:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a store located in the 14000 block of Camden Avenue on the report of a fictitious bill.  The head cashier stated that she had discovered a $10 bill that looked suspicious while counting the money in the store safe.  The reporting party had no idea how the money got into their safe.  The bill was smaller, and the colors were different than a real bill.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Interfering with Lawful Business – Sunnyvale (Superior Court)  At 11:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy, assigned to the Security Screening Station of the Sunnyvale Superior Court, was dispatched to the Clerk’s Office for a report of an uncooperative person.  When the deputy arrived in the Clerk’s Office, the male subject became extremely belligerent toward the deputy and began screaming.  The deputy and the court clerks believed the male was interfering with lawful business and asked the subject to leave.  The subject, however, refused to leave the court facility and challenged to fight the deputy, who attempted to escort the subject out of the building.  Several deputies arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody for interfering with lawful business.  The suspect was transported and booked into the Main Jail.

Felon in Possession of Ammunition – San Martin  At 2 p.m., a Sheriff’s sergeant on routine patrol made a car stop on a Ford SUV for a traffic violation.  Upon making contact with the male driver, the deputy learned that he was a parolee.  The search of the parolee’s vehicle revealed a bag of marijuana and an ammunition box, which contained live ammunition.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for the above charges, and his vehicle was towed at the scene.

Vandalism – Saratoga At 10:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a church in the 20000 block of Saratoga-Los Gatos Road for the report of a vehicle vandalism.  The victim had her car parked in the parking lot while she was out of town for a week.  When she returned to her vehicle this morning, she noticed that the rear cargo window on her Subaru hatchback had been shattered.  There was no other damage to her vehicle.  The victim could not think of anyone who might have done this and the unknown suspect is still at large.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Under the Influence – San Jose  At 11:40 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Scott Street at Patton Avenue on the report of a verbal argument in a vehicle.  Upon contact with one of the occupants, a deputy immediately noticed that the male occupant was displaying symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, the deputy determined that the male subject was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him.  The suspect was then transported and booked into the Main Jail.

Possession of Controlled Substance – San Jose At 12 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol in the area of Hicks Road and Reynolds Road stopped a Honda sedan, occupied by three individuals, for a vehicle code violation.  The front female passenger, who was the registered owner of the vehicle, explained to the deputy that she had to let her friend drive the car because her driver’s license had been suspended.  She further added that she had nothing illegal inside her vehicle.  However, the consent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of methamphetamine under the front passenger seat.  The female was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Vehicle Burglary – Cupertino At 12:50 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy responded to the West Valley Patrol station to meet with a victim of a vehicle burglary.  At 12 p.m., the victim parked her Infinity SUV in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 19000 block of Stevens Creek Blvd.  The victim locked the doors to her car and went into the restaurant.  When the victim returned to her vehicle approximately 30 minutes later, she saw the front passenger window smashed and her purse, which was left on the front passenger seat, was gone.  The unknown suspect is still at large.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – San Jose At 9:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy stopped a Ford coupe at the intersection of West San Carlos Street and Hester Avenue for a traffic violation.  Upon contact, the driver told the deputy that her license was expired.  The deputy also learned that the driver had an outstanding traffic warrant and a meth pipe inside the car.  The deputy cited the driver for the warrant, the meth pipe and for being unlicensed.  The deputy released the driver with a court date and towed the car.

Vehicle Burglary – San Martin At 11:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the Gilroy Police Department to meet with a victim reporting a prior vehicle burglary.  The victim’s car was unoccupied and temporarily parked in the parking lot of a grocery store in the 13000 block of Sycamore Avenue when the burglary occurred.  The vehicle’s doors were locked and the windows were rolled up when the victim left his vehicle.  The unknown suspect stole a duffle bag, containing a GPS, from the vehicle.  The victim did not see anyone suspicious prior to the incident.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Petty Theft – Saratoga At 4:10 p.m. a Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence on the 19000 block of Portos Court on the report of a prior theft.  The victim claimed that an unknown suspect removed and took 16 solar-powered lawn lamps from the backyard.  The victim didn’t see anyone suspicious prior to the incident, and she could not think of who might have done this.  The total value of the stolen lamps is $160.  The unknown suspect is currently at large.

Grand Theft – Cupertino At 5:50 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 20000 block of Homestead Road on a report of a prior theft, which had occurred earlier during the day.  The victim listed his Blackberry phone for sale on Craigslist, and a male contacted the victim showing interest in purchasing the phone.  Both parties met in the parking lot of a mall on N. Wolfe.  When the victim showed the male suspect his cell phone, the suspect grabbed the phone out of the victim’s hand and ran off.  After a short foot pursuit, the victim lost sight of the suspect in the area of Finch and Stevens Creek.  The suspect is at large, and this case is being investigated by Sheriff’s detectives.

Parole Violation – Gilroy At 10:20 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a black Chevy coupe on Santa Teresa Blvd at Highway 152 for a minor traffic violation.  Upon contact, the driver, who had a female occupant, told the deputy that he was on parole.  The deputy also noticed that both the driver and the female passenger were displaying the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance, which prompted the deputy to conduct a set of field sobriety tests on them.  Upon completion of the field sobriety tests, the deputy determined that both of them were under the influence of a controlled substance.  During a parole search of the suspect vehicle, deputies found meth pipes, which belonged to the driver and the occupant.  The driver was arrested for parole violation and the female occupant was arrested for possession of a meth pipe and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Burglary – Morgan Hill  At 6:40 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Richmond Avenue and Santa Teresa Blvd on a possible trespassing violation.  Upon arrival, one of the deputies noticed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road.  The deputy also noticed that the driver was one of the burglars he had arrested from a previous burglary case.  Deputies contacted the driver and, during the course of their investigation, the deputies found several stolen items, in the suspect vehicle, that belong to a victim of another burglary case.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for burglary.

Vandalism – Saratoga At 1:15 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 13000 block of Upper Hill Court on a prior vandalism.  The victim stated that an unknown suspect moved drainage pipes on his property, which caused a small landslide in his front yard.  These drainage pipes usually run down the hillside and empty onto the paved portion of Saratoga Hills Road.  The unknown suspect, however, moved these pipes about 50 feet up the hillside where the pipes emptied the water and caused a landslide.  The victim believes it will cost more than $1,000 to repair the drainage pipes and clean up the landslide.  The suspect is still at large and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Jose At 7:15 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy made a car stop on San Carlos Street at Meridian Avenue for a traffic violation.  The driver was on parole for stealing a car and his vehicle was searched pursuant to the terms and condition of his parole.  In the center console of the suspect vehicle, the deputy located several Hydrocodone and Methadone pills, which the suspect didn’t have prescription for.  The suspect was arrested for possession of controlled substances and booked into the Main Jail.  His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cupertino At 9:40 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy made a car stop on an Acura sedan on Bubb Road and Results Way for a traffic violation.  Upon contact with the male driver, the deputy learned that the driver was on felony probation and his license had been suspended.  During the search of the vehicle, the deputy discovered a plastic bag containing methamphetamine in the center console.  The suspect admitted the illegal substance was his.  The deputy arrested and booked the suspect into the Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Fugitive From Justice – Los Altos At 9:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy made a car stop on a Cadillac at the intersection of Foothill Expressway and Hillview Avenue for a minor traffic violation.  A driver’s license check revealed that the driver had a warrant out of Douglas County, Nevada.  The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office requested the subject be booked into the Main Jail for extradition to Nevada.  The suspect was arrested on the warrant and his vehicle was towed.

Removing Parts from Vehicle / Grand Theft – Los Gatos At 2:30p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the area of Highway 17 and Summit Road for a report of a prior theft.  The victim has several construction tools and tractors stationed in the area.  When he arrived this afternoon, the victim noticed the fuel tank cap belonging to one of his tractors was on the ground.  As he attempted to secure the cap, he also noticed that the tank lock had been broken.  In addition, a hydraulic piston and hydraulic lines were missing from the back of the same tractor.  The victim could not think of anyone who might have done this, and he didn’t see anyone suspicious prior to the incident.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Fraudulent Plate – San Martin At 1:40 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy made a car stop on a Ford SUV on Monterey Road and San Martin Avenue for a traffic violation.  The license check revealed that the license plate on the vehicle belonged to a Honda, not a Ford.  The suspect told the deputy that his father owns the Ford, and the plate belongs to his wife’s Honda.  Because he could not renew the registration on the Ford, he removed the rear plate from the Ford and installed the plate from his wife’s Honda to avoid getting pulled over by law enforcement officers.  The suspect was cited and released from the scene.

Grand Theft – San Jose At 1:45p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on the report of a stolen purse.  The victim placed her purse on a table unattended and began her shift. She returned a few hours later when she realized that her purse was “gone.”  Her purse, a black cloth Guess bag with a flap closure, had approximately $50 in cash, a driver’s license, a cell phone and insurance cards.  The victim did not see anyone taking her purse, but she could think of a person who might have done this.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this crime with the possible suspect information provided by the victim.

Possession of Anabolic Steroids – Saratoga At 11:50 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 19000 block of Vineyard Lane on the report of a family disturbance.  A mother reported that her son was being violent, and she believed that he was on drugs.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted the son, who had a backpack with him.  The consent search of the backpack revealed syringes and steroids, which the suspect admitted to owning without prescription.  The suspect was arrested for possession of anabolic steroids and booked into the Main Jail.

Exhibition of Speed – Cupertino At 7 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol in the north parking lot of Macy’s on North Wolfe when he saw a red Mazda coupe pull into the parking lot.  Just as the Mazda’s headlights turned off, it began driving in circles.  After a few rotations, the tires broke traction and the vehicle began to spin in tight circles.  The deputy then initiated the car stop and contacted the driver, who told the deputy he did not know why he was spinning the car.  The driver was cited for exhibition of speed in a public parking lot and released from the scene with a court date.

Possession of Stolen Property – Los Altos Hills  At 3:50 a.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Highway 280, south of Page Mill Road, on a Toyota sedan, which was occupied by three people.  Upon contact with the driver, the deputy immediately noticed a strong order of an alcoholic beverage and marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  During the search of the front passenger, the deputy found several grams of marijuana and a Blackberry, which belonged to a victim of a prior theft.  The deputy contacted the victim, who wished prosecution.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Main Jail for possession of stolen property and marijuana.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Jose  At 11:15 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy, on routine patrol, observed a male subject riding his bicycle without a front light in the area of McKee Road and Capitol Avenue.  As the deputy made an enforcement stop on the bicyclist, the subject reached into his pant pocket, removed a clear plastic bag, and threw it on the ground.  The deputy quickly detained the subject and asked him what was in the clear plastic bag.  The subject replied by saying that it was methamphetamine in the bag.  Further search of the suspect yielded two Ecstasy pills.  The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Main Jail.

Identity Theft – Saratoga At 4p.m., a victim of a prior identity theft came to the Sheriff’s West Valley Substation to report the incident.  On 1/7/10, the victim received a letter from Chase Bank stating that her credit card account was delinquent.  The victim does not have any credit card with the account number.  The original billing address was different than the victim’s home address.  The victim could not think of anyone who might have done this, and she didn’t give permission to anyone to open up a credit card account with her name and personal information.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident.

Vehicle Burglary – Cupertino At 10 a.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to an auto repair shop in the 19000 block of Stevens Creek Blvd on a report of a prior vehicle burglary.  The reporting party is the owner of the business and he stated that two BMWs that belong to his clients were broken into over night.  The vehicles were parked in the parking lot of the business and the reporting party didn’t notice any damage to those vehicles the previous night.  An unknown suspect smashed the windows and stole car stereos from both vehicles.  The deputy contacted the owners of the vehicles and informed them of the incident.  The reporting party didn’t notice any suspicious activities prior to the incident.  This case is currently being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Counterfeit Fare Media – San Jose (VTA) At 2:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s Transit Deputy was dispatched to the Curtner Light Rail station to assist a VTA Fare Inspector.  The Fare Inspector boarded a northbound train at the Capitol Light Rail station where she conducted a fare inspection on the suspect.  The Adult Flash Pass the suspect provided turned out to be counterfeit.  When the inspector asked if the pass was “fake,” the suspect replied by saying, “ya, you can have it.”  The suspect admitted to the deputy that he had made a photo copy of a Flash Pass at Kinko’s a couple of weeks ago.  The suspect was cited for possession of counterfeit fare media and was released from the scene.

Vehicle Burglary – Saratoga At 7:40 a.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 14000 block of Vickery Avenue on the report of a prior vehicle burglary.  The victim stated that she had her Ford SUV parked in the circular driveway of her residence the previous night.  This morning, she came outside to walk with her dog and saw that the SUV’s rear passenger side window had been smashed.  Upon close examination, the victim noticed that an IPOD docking station and a black bag containing emergency road side equipment had been stolen from the car.  The SUV’s doors were locked prior to the incident.  The victim could not think of anyone who might have done this.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Gilroy  At 2:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy, on routine patrol in the area of Leavesley Avenue and Monterey Road, stopped a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation.  Upon contact, the deputy immediately noticed the male subject display the symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.  The deputy evaluated the subject and determined that he was under the influence.  The suspect admitted to the deputy that he had smoked methamphetamine in the past.  The suspect was arrested, transported and booked into the Main Jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Burglary – San Jose At 11:20 a.m., Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 100 block of Rockway Drive on the report of a residential break-in.  The deputies checked the interior of the house, but no one was located.  It appeared that unknown suspect(s) defeated the lock on the sliding glass door by using a crowbar, which was found in the backyard next to the sliding glass door.  The victim stated that the master bedroom had been ransacked and items had been strewn all over the floor.  The suspect (s) took victim’s personal items, such as a laptop computer and several pieces of jewelry.  The victim could not think of anyone who might have done this.  This case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Possession of Illegal Weapons – San Martin  a Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol when he saw a vehicle traveling on Santa Teresa Blvd at a high rate of speed.  The deputy then saw the vehicle enter the S/B lane and begin traveling N/B in the S/B lane, directly toward the deputy’s patrol car.  The deputy immediately swerved to the right to avoid being struck by the suspect vehicle.  As the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop, the suspect vehicle sped away.  With the assistance from two joggers, the deputy was able to locate and stop the suspect vehicle in the area of Santa Teresa and Watsonville Road in Morgan Hill.  The deputy contacted and arrested the driver for reckless driving.  During the search incident to arrest, the deputy found a pair of brass knuckles in the suspect’s jacket pocket.  The suspect was transported and booked into the Main Jail for reckless driving and possession of brass knuckles.

Vandalism – Cupertino  At 11 a.m., Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 10000 block of Wunderlich Drive on the report of a prior vandalism.  The victim parked his vehicle on the street in front of his residence the previous night.  When he returned to his vehicle this morning, he noticed that the driver side window was broken.  He immediately checked the interior of the vehicle; however, no other property had been stolen.  The victim did not see anyone suspicious prior to the incident.  He estimated the replacement cost of the damaged window to be approximately $250.  The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident.
