Africanized Honey Bees (AHB)

Africanized honey bees (AHB) are dispersing northward in California. In July 2006, a hive of AHB were found  on the border between San Benito and Santa Clara County.October 21, 2003). We are teaming up with the Santa Clara County Department of Agriculture to provide information to the public. AHB background, biology, economic impact and facts can be found at Agriculture's site on AHB.

If you know of the location of a feral (wild) honey bee hive or swarm, please notify us at (408) 918-4770, so that we may take a sample for our AHB wing length database.
