SAN JOSÉ, CALIF. - The Santa Clara County Vector Control District (SCCVCD) confirmed on July 26 that adult mosquitoes collected from the 95131, 95132, 95134, and 95112 zip code areas of San José tested positive for West Nile virus. A map of the treated area can be seen below.

The detection of mosquitoes infected with WNV has prompted the scheduling of a mosquito fogging treatment in the surrounding area, in an effort to prevent human cases of WNV.  Weather permitting; the ground fogging is scheduled Thursday, August 1, at 11:00 pm, and is planned to last for several hours.

Post-fogging mosquito samples will be set on Friday, and collected on Saturday, August 3. The samples will be tested on the following Monday. If virus is found in the post-treatment samples, additional fogging may be required. If no virus is found, further fogging will not be needed.
