|Helicopter Treatment for Winter Marsh Mosquitoes Scheduled
Beginning at approximately 8:00am, Thursday, February 14, 2008 (weather permitting) the Santa Clara County Vector Control District will be applying products by helicopter that will reduce the fly-off or “emergence “ of adult mosquitoes.

Aerial Search For Mosquito Sources Begins
A plane, equipped with digital photography capability, will fly over Gilroy, Morgan Hill, parts of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, San Jose, and Saratoga this Tuesday, May 6, in search of neglected pools and other backyard sources that could harbor developing mosquitoes that can transmit the West Nile virus.
Three men from the SF Bay Area were diagnosed with leptospirosis last week. The men were all in their 30's and were previously healthy. Their symptoms began May 16-17, 2003 with fever, headache, and myalgias. One patient developed hepatitis and another renal failure; two were hospitalized.

Three deaths in California during the past 14 months have been linked to an arenavirus, a rare virus never before acquired by humans in North America, State Health Director Diana M. Bontá, R.N., DR P.H., announced today.
