Overview

Kindred Souls Family Visitation Center is a setting that provides intensive intervention visits for families under the supervision of the Juvenile Dependency Court.  These specialized visitation services are focused on mental health services.  Kindred Souls staff provide extensive and consistent observations of the interaction between children/youths and parents during supervised visits.  The visitation observers help the family in playing their appropriate, respective family roles; to rebuild or strengthen the relationships within the family; and to help decrease anxiety and improve communication during the visit. The services are provided by Catholic Charities Behavioral Health staff in collaborative with the Department of Family and Children's Services (DFCS).

Kindred Souls Referral Procedures

To refer a child and parent(s) to the Kindred Souls visitation program, the social worker:

  • Completes the Intensive Intervention Visitation Referral (SCZ 77).
  • Attach a copy of the child's Medi-cal card to the SCZ 77.

The social worker is contacted by the Kindred Souls clinicalsupervisor or DFCS social work coordinator to confirm and complete the visitation arrangements.   The coordinator may schedule a joint conference meeting to assess and approve the visitation.

Visitation observation reports are faxed on a weekly basis directly to the primary social worker.  Kindred Souls staff do not have access to CWS/CMS, so it is the social worker's responsibility to enter the information in a CWS/CMS Contact.
